Great bakery and super popular with the locals. They have a great range of buns, pastries and cakes. It’s also at a really reasonable price- after a certain time in the day, all the pastries are discounted by 20%. Even though they say they close at 9:30, I went in at 8:30pm and the bakery had already cleared all its pastries away, which was really disappointing,, so I had to come back another time. Will 100% be back for more though 🙂
To be honest, I am not really a baked goods guy or a big fan of sweets. I have made a concerted effort over the years to stay away from processed foods, at least at home. So my comments here are not those of any kind of expert but more from the point of view of an open minded neophyte. i bought 5 buns and a tart and was surprised to pay only $9.25…so far so good. My partner loves anything with Taro and we agreed that this bun was tasty as well as interesting as it sort of resembled a bear claw. I wolfed down the Curried Beef Bun all by myself and consider this one also a success. The Egg Tart also was creamy and fresh, with a flaky shell. Nice! I have learned that Pineapple Buns are so named for their pineapple like appearance rather than flavour. This bun was fresh with a crusty sugary topping but I am afraid that I do not understand the allure and debate that surrounds who makes the best. To me, they need something….hey! why not add pineapple? Finally, the Pork Floss Bun and the Pork Floss and Seaweed Bun. I love both Pork Floss and Seaweed but put them together and add a white bun and my palette just does not get it. There are many more types of baking here and since I tend to gravitate to the slightly more exotic selections, maybe my review is not fair. Everything seemed fresh and the service is efficient if not overly familiar. I can see why it is so popular! yeswereeatingagain.com
