Not French, but OK for a Chinese bakery. When I depart from a country, I don’t like to carry its coins, and I’m too much of a cold-hearted tightwad to toss substantial amounts in those charity bins at airports. So I popped into La Patisserie to spend my last loonies before getting on the Skytrain to YVR. This is a decent place to get airplane snacks, and the prices are plainly marked so I could make choices right down my last beaver-emblazoned nickel. One thing I’m curious about are those odd, crunchy Asian versions of Napoleons (millefeuilles in proper Francais.) La P did a decent version of this, although I still prefer the softer, more custardy types the French make. That, and a walnut cookie with one of those slightly burnt nuts that seems to be the Chinese fashion on it, got me snacking until the real airline dinner arrived somewhere over the Pacific. Prices are moderate here, the pastry seems to be made in-house, and the service is typical Chinese impersonal/efficient.

Overpriced Molded Cake, anyone?. Bought 2 pieces of cake yesterday afternoon and kept them in the fridge right after I got home, it’s only a 5 minutes walk. When I open the box and took a bite I noticed the side of the cake has small white dots on it…… yea it’s molded within 24 hours of buying it. Very disappointed. I wonder how long do they keep the unsold cakes in the display case.

It’s tasteless, over price and rude customer services, worst than before

Fool me once, shame on you!. Went to La Patisserie-Richmond location to order a birthday cake. After picking it up a few hours later, I arrived home only to find that they had assembled TWO cakes together and gave it to me as ONE. The first half of the cake was sprinkled with cocoa powder and they must have forgotten it on the latter half, because it was plain. Terrible quality- definitely not aesthetically pleasing and the cake also tasted dry! I must admit, I am extremely disappointed and I am never going back there.

Bad Thing in the world. No quality, their cakes are hard and feel like stone.

I thought this was a French bakery .. It’s not:( … Unless you like Chinese cakes ( taste like styrofoam and air) dont come here. You won’t find those rich tasting French cakes .
