What? I don’t even get shiitake mushroom for my udon?!? Udon itself is harder than the instant ones i bought from supermarket. It was a table for 2 and we were only given one cup of tea? Also the tea is very diluted. I think they need to hire more staff especially when the staff are not very efficient. 4 tables were not cleaned up when we sat down. Took us 15 mins waving at them trying to get their attention. In the end, i just took the food that i wanted to pack to the cashier. Very disappointed. Too bad it took over Shikisai. Food quality and service was so much better back then.
3.5 stars.Customer service was excellent. Servers were friendly and polite. They always checked on our needs at our table. We really appreciated it. We made reservation a few days ago, so we had no problem getting a table although we had 10 people. The parking lot outside the restaurant is big, so there are a plenty of parking stalls. No problem with parking at all I visited Sushi Aria on Cambie Street in Vancouver. The food was quite good there, so I expected the food at this branch in Richmond would be good as well. However, the food here turned out okay only. My table had ordered quite a lot of food such as salmon sashimi, katsu don, pork belly don, salmon Oshi sushi, hotate (scallops) Oshi sushi, Alaska roll, and etc. The quality of some of the food was good. However, the oshi sushi fell apart when I tried to pick it up on the plate. One little reminder about their chopsticks. They were the disposable wooden ones. Once we had to split the pair of chopsticks into half, the wood on the chopsticks had a lot of little sticks that poked out on the top part. Be careful when you are using the chopsticks. A little wood stick poked into the skin of my hand that made me super uncomfortable. Not sure if the quality of the disposable wooden chopsticks was too cheap or having a bad quality. Overall, eating at this restaurant was okay. If you were looking for cheap Japanese food and did not look for high quality of food, you could come here. It is good enough in this neighbourhood.
April 11, 2018I went there for dinner after work with niece and hubby. we tried something different this time.we tried :scallop sushi…. big / fresh/ icy cold scallopchicken yaki soba … small portion and extremely saltyprawn tempura … prawn is smaller than beforedeep fried chicken …. crispy and salty outside the batter, but juicy and tasty insideunagi / hamachi/ toro and Saba sushi… nothing specialCaribbean roll … don’t know why.. there’s a lot of water underneath the roll and wasabi ??crunchy rollshrimp sashimi sushi … so freshgyozafood are better than beforeFebruary 25, 2018I didn’t go there for lunch for a year . Maybe their quality change better… it’s end.. their sushi still not good and their rice for nirgiri sushi still too hard… even we go there around 12:30 pm. They just open …3 of us had tried:Prawn tempura — taste and look better than before/ the batter look puffy, but oily/ the shrimp softCrunch awesome roll — it’s tasty/ so soft/ whole piece can melt in my mouth/ it’s good for my 80 years old grandma/ this is only dish I like for whole mealChicken Udon — their soup base was too salty for usToro nirgiri sushi — taste like regular tuna to us/ their rice is too hardTobiko with quail egg nirgiri sushi — they used low quality tobiko with a lot of hard cold rice with chewy seaweedUnagi nirgiri sushi — dried/ got a lot of bones/ thin sliced/ look and taste like anagoCalifornia roll — so soft / good for my grandma/ tastyServices are better today… I will go back for sushi roll, not sashimi..May, 23, 20172 of us had tried:salmon sashimi (we saw the table who sit beside us ordered it… look fresh and huge pieces… why not give it a try? Even I didn’t order regular salmon sashimi for ages… it’s look good, but can’t taste any salmon at all… Maybe they freeze too long)Toro sashimi (thin pieces/ not melt in my mouth/ they don’t have enough for full order at 7 pm )hamachi sashimi (no taste/ still icy)Saba shioyaki ( they served on iron plate/ not crispy/ extremely oily)red dragon roll ( tasty/ little bit spicy tuna and unagi on California roll)unagi sushi (taste and look like anago to me/ thin slice with little bones in)tobiko with quail egg sushideep fried ice cream (not crispy outside)Service is good, they refill our tea whenever half gone, food come fast.Food quality is so so
I normally don’t give reviews, but I couldn’t help myself. I’ve eaten here before and thought this place was good until today. I decided to go for takeout and got cooked food instead of sushi because I didn’t feel like eating sashimi. I ended up getting the P Toro Don. Worst idea ever. 1) They had asked me if I would mind getting sushi rice instead of normal rice. I suppose they couldn’t be bothered to make fresh rice. Anyway I agreed since I was hungry and didn’t want to wait any longer. 2) The egg is raw, I can still see the stringy egg white. 3) The pork belly is cooked to the point it felt like I was eating jerky. I guess that’s the way Koreans make it. If you ever decide to come here, just stick to the sushi/sashimi.
average price, below average food and service Waited quite awhile for the food, but everything came at the same timeSlow service, called 3 times to get more teaThey do NOT look when putting down food, like a plane crashing down and pushing everything on the table…Food:- Tea is way too diluted- Soya sauce is NOT the traditional one, but the bottle is, ya WTF
slow servicegood food/ similar to most Japanese restaurants average price for the areafamily friendly alot of parking in the plazawould i go back? Maybe
This newly renovated restaurant was previously Shikisai. They also have a location on Cambie and King Edward St. Cozy space that accommodates about 40 people. Service was friendly and attentive. Server made sure our tea was topped up and checked in several times. Food was pretty good. Sashimi was fresh and hot food came hot. They focus on presentation a bit as well. Our chicken yaki udon came in a large serving bowl but portion seemed small for $9. Salmon Oishi sushi was tasty. Tempura had a light batter and was freshly fried. Aria Tower was light and refreshing..could add a little more dressing though. Had to grab some take out as well and the server threw in a free miso soup..that was a great gesture. Ample parking…will be a great go to close to home!
