Deli male owner cashierWent into buy deli today and the guy at cashier (one of the owners) was rude. I agree with the remarks about being treat second class citizen. Talk about racism. The guy (round 20ish) didn’t tell me what the total was and didn’t even acknowledge me when I said thank you. He blatantly turned away from me. What a jerk! Not spending my money there anymore. With that type of service, good luck in making anymore money from my family!

I had heard great things about the foods at Cioffi’s. A few months back, I was in town, and my friends had a few gift baskets made for their clients; I received one of those gift baskets. I was absolutely thrilled because these were some of the products we used to eat as kids.Unfortunately, after having opened up the gift basket, 3 of the products had expired dates on the packaging. I guess it’s okay for pure olive oil to be kept in a cool place but the expired date was 1.5 years old. Least to say that I wasn’t impressed, and took the non-expired foods and donated them into the Safeway hamper. When I’m in town these days, I go elsewhere and just keep on driving past the store.

Stuffing a sandwich with lots of fluff is not the way to make a remarkable impression on someone who knows about food, is a foodie and cooks with passion for a living. The prices have sky-rocketed to an unfavorable low!If the Cucina is Italian, the food prepared in this store has no place or identity of being anything Italian. I haven’t met one authentic Italian cook or chef on the premises. The services isn’t up to par, and most of the employees are rough to deal with in either store at any given time. The owner’s arrogance is demoralizing and he doesn’t want to listen to anyone; well, we’ll take our food business elsewhere. My kids went to the Hats Off Day last year and were ripped off on the cost of a hot dog and drink. There are far better places to eat on the Hastings strip for sure.

Amazing and Alert Staff. In regards to the woman complaining about rude stuff, that is so wrong and false. I was walking into the store as this had just taken place, the mother of the young boy was shaking and in tears because of this aggression and did not know what to.. A few staff and customers witnessed this woman grab someone else’s child with a tight fist and threw the kid aside ( I would of clocked this women flat out if she grabbed and threw my child ). The staff wanted nothing to do with her as she had basically assaulted this young boy. The staff delt with this women properly for her own safety by getting her out of the store quickly as customers started to gather . The staff at Cioffi’s delt with this properly and proffesionally..

Love the products. Despise the service and prices. You know there’s a lot of other options for great deli food in the metrovancouver area. Every time I come here it seems there is someone working there with a hissy attitude . Its busy I get it . It’s great to take pride in ones workplace but when it is worn like a massive chip on your shoulder it’s a bit much.

Rude Staff. I have been a customer here for a number of years, but today was my last time in this store. I saw a middle aged woman trying to reach around an unruly child to get a basket, but the child kept getting in the way. The mother appeared to enjoy the antics of her child rather than admonishing the child. In desperation, the woman gently moved the child out of the way, and obtained her basket. The cashier was witness to these events, but chose not to intervene when she should have. (she could have easily reached for and passed a basket to the older woman) The mother of the child became verbally abusive towards the middle aged woman, and even though the middle aged woman kept turning away from the abusive mother, the other woman kept on following and verbally abusing the older woman. This was totally uncalled for and the staff could have stopped this at the onset but chose to turn a blind eye. As the elder woman went to pay for her purchases and leave the store, she tried to talk to the casher, who told her she did not want to talk to her, and turned away. The woman exited the store, but when her husband approached, the casher became vocal and told him that his wife was prejudiced. The man paid for his purchases and left. I am a woman and when in a store, I expect some level of security and respect from the staff. Based on this experience, I will not be coming back into the store. I know of a number of other stores that will provide the same product at the same or better price.

Customer does not matter unless you are buying!. Went to Cioffi’s tonight for the last time. Although the selection is great, I do not like being treated as a second class citizen by a cashier in the deli, because she disagreed with something I did. I tried to reach for a shopping basket by the cash register, and every time I reached for it a young child stepped in front of me. As the child’s mother chose not to intervene, (in fact appeared to enjoy her child’s antics) I reached over and gently pushed the child aside so that I could reach the basket. The cashier totally ignored the whole episode. I took my basket and proceeded to go shopping, and the mother of the child followed me demanding to know who I thought I was. I turned away from this woman twice, but she continued to harass me. When she told me I was incredibly rude and that I should go home, I advised her that I was born here, but she was not and again turned away. As my husband and I completed our shopping, I approached the cashier who now turned her back on me and refused to talk to me. A complaint to the manager produced the statement that he did not wish to get involved. I do not want to be treated this way – I am sure no customer does, and then to add insult to injury have staff be rude as well. Too many other meat and deli stores out there – I do not need Cioffi’s.
