We shop at the meat market regularly. We ramk the meat market 5.0In the past, we’ve had schnitzel sandwichs from their deli next door. But their breaded veal always left a nasty after taste which meant we’ve had to rush off for a capuccino along Hastings St. Powdered garlic was one of the ingredients. Really?!Last week, I bought their cabbage beef soup. It’s the worst soup we ever had. The broth was too salty. It had a layer of fat on top. And the beef: ground beef. The cabbage was so over cooked, soft and greasy that they might as well not be there. Cioffi is famous for their raw meat which they sell to 5 star restaurants. I can’t believe they used ground beef for this soup, disgusting and tasteless, unpleasant in presentation. If I had to imagine a soup made up of heating water in a pan that had been frying salted beef fat, that’s what this soup tasted like. We didn’t finish it.
From one store to three, Cioffi’s has been my go-to place in the neighbourhood for as long as I can remember. The meats are always fresh and excellent quality. There is a wide selection in both the meat market and the deli which meets my needs for almost any meal. The hot food is also delicious – their prime rib sandwiches are my favourite. Service is always efficient and friendly as well.
