Great Local Pub. Always have a great time at this pub, staff are always friendly and helpful. Love Music Poker and Karaoke nights never a long wait to get in and sing a tune which is nice compared to some other places in town. Would defiantly recommend to anyone to come check out this pub foods good and killer specials! Looking forward to my next visit.
Homophobic dump!. Its a sad state of affairs when you go out for a Friday night beer with a friend in good spirits only to have it ruined by some red neck bartender who seems to make the liquor laws up as he goes along and refuses to serve you just because he discriminates who you are or what you look like, this was my experience at the upper deck on Friday night.My friend and I decided to go in the upper deck for a game of pool and because its local, while my friend was setting up the table I went to the bar to order us both a drink, I asked for 2 pints of beer, the man who was not very friendly from the get go when I asked him what specials were on, tells me that he cannot serve me 2 pints because its against the law, a bit gobsmacked by this I asked for 1 instead, he abruptly asks for 2 pieces of ID, fair enough, although I am 32 I do get asked, so I go to my friend to get my bag and ID and also ask her to come to the bar with me because I couldnt get her a beer. I head back to the bar with my ID and ask for a pint for myself, as hes checking my ID I simply ask if this is a new rule because I had never heard of it, having an English accent maybe he thinks he can swing this lie with me because I wouldnt know any different, he replies that its the law in BC and he just enforces it. I tell him I have been to this bar a few times and Ive never once been told that and never heard of that law in my whole life here, I can see he doesnt like the fact Ive quizzed him on this make believe law so tells me if I dont like it to go to another bar and hes not going to serve me because he doesnt like my attitude, instead of getting mad I try to keep my cool telling him I was only asking a question and I was just asking him when this law come into play, he couldnt answer me and in turn abruptly told me to leave, I could see the waitress seemed a bit miffed as to what he was saying also, so we left and went next door to a much nicer bar. I thought I would try ordering 2 pints which I was served without question, when I asked this barman if this was legal he said yes of course. So my point is proven, there is no such law, this red neck barman clearly did not want to serve me or my friend and was very rude with me from the moment I walked to the bar. Now the question remains, is this bar refusing to serve people judged on their sexuality or gender?? I think something needs to be done about this, what decade are we living in that people cannot get served judged on their sexuality or skin colour or their cultural background? This may not seem a big deal to most but it is most upsetting when all you want to do is go out for a drink with your buddy on a Friday night only to have it ruined by some red neck because they dont like who you are. I have never experienced anything like this in my time in Victoria but I will be making sure that people are aware of what kind of bar this is.
I’m a big fan of no-frills blue collar bars, but this place is not one of them.

A crowd of us used to go everywhere for wings and there are some really good places in Victoria but this place is my fave by far. Wed 35cents. Good pizza and burgers too. home made pattys. Friendly fun waitresses. Free pool and darts. Karaoke. blues bands. In the summer they have BBQ burgers and steaks on the patio. Not the classiest place in town but great for a game and some bar fare and cheap beers, with a decent selection of micro and mainstream beer. Owner told us he goes to the US every month to get the Jamaican sauce.. I love it.
A little bit of a skuzzy croud, but well worth it for the phenomenal wings…. Extremely likely to recommend to my friends and family.
Wings wings wings. Wed wings is probably one of the best deals in town. $.35 per wing which equate to $4.00 for 12 wings. Wings are medium thick and juicy and there are various flavours to suite your taste buds. negative: Only complaint I have is that if you come alone, you have to sit at the bar to get serve. If you sit anywhere on the main dinner table area, you will have wait for a while before any one of the waitress notice you (if ever). Oh watch out for the waitress that throws drink coasters onto the table. She was rude to us. It was amusing to see that even after the owner’s son called her out on it, she still acted like she didn’t hear him.
Went for wings, teriyaki no good but the salt and pepper and the Jamaican wings were good. Cheap wings and beer on Wednesday
