May 27,2016 my wife and i around 4:30 went to have another great meal at Austin’s ,in Chilliwack, the meals where great but i didn’t get halibut when i ordered it , they gave me cod . The waitress talked to the cook so loudly everyone could here her , she then was quite rude to me and said that i was mistaken and then offered me another piece of fish. I said no thanks and we left abruptly . Again what the chef cooked was great but the waitress was rude !!!
i had a very unfortunate experience today at approximately 2:30 on march 25 when i was spoken very rudely to by the waitress in regards to their policy of left over fish for an all you can eat Cod Fish and Chip dinner. I had ordered the all you can eat dinner but was advised that because i had ordered more fish and not finished it, i would have to pay extra for it?? what does the All you Can eat mean, as i am paying for the fish regardless of whether i finish it or not. We were not charged for the extra fish but I still found the waitress to be very abrupt and short with us in her explanation. All in all the fish was ok but the chips were terrible as they were all ends and seemed to have been cooked ahead of time and then kept warm in the oven. Very unappetizing.
Best fish & chips I’ve had in a long time!! My wife and I had the Cod & Chips dinner for 2 and it was fantastic, large portions, great batter and the chips were perfect and plentiful. Service was fast and friendly and our order was ready in minutes. Will definitely be a regular stop!
Great Fish and Chips! I simply don’t understand any negative reviews. The food is great, prices are fair and the service is consistently good. The only thing I would change is maybe the decor but I can’t fault a restaurant for that. I go here on a fairly regular basis and it’s always been good. I recommend the halibut and ask for your fries extra crispy.
Good food good price. I liked Victory Fish and Chips, but always found them a bit expensive for what you got. The fish batter here is lighter, the menu is more streamlined, and the prices are what I’d want to pay for fish and chips. The tartar sauce is also more lemony and fresher tasting. No shepherds pie anymore though…darn :(The decor isn’t as interesting, but they brightened up the space and it looks and smells cleaner than Victory. The Victory server was a charming British lady who made it a point to treat you like an old friend, which I liked. The Austin server was friendly but professional– she let the place to stand on its own merits.Overall I’d say the change is an improvement — more affordable food without a fussy restaurant. Will definitely be going back.
I’m here and enjoying the food. Made it here thinking it aas victory 🙁 I still love victory, and the fries here do need improvement, maybe double coook them? The batter is good and the lady wprkig here serving is helpful and has no problem telling people that the other lady went to a golf course i forgot where. Either way I’ll be coming back in te future.
Fish is good, fries need help. Ok Prices.. They run specials a lot, and have an interesting menu with lots of variations. Didn’t expect to see onion rings or fried pickles at a fish & chip place. The fish isn’t heavily battered which is nice. You can actually taste the fish., Their prices are reasonable. The fries need help. They taste homemade, with skin on, they appear to be deep fried earlier in the day and then kept warm in the oven. Never did I hear the famous sound of a deep fryer, so it appears they aren’t frying their chips fresh with every order. (Or they are just re-frying them to heat them up). Either way they were dry and stale, a little hard and tough.Their coleslaw tasted mostly of cabbage and not too much dressing. We found a little tub of what we initially thought was tartar sauce, but instead it appeared to go better on the coleslaw than the fish, so that’s what we did.Our biggest problem was the waitress. She seems very touchy with the guests. She might touch your arm or put her hand on your back while she’s trying to get around you, etc. She is attempting to be personable, but touching the public isn’t something that is done anymore.I will try them again, but not for a couple months. They’ll need to iron out these minor problems. I hope they improve. So far they are a half-star better than Victory Fish & Chips (the old owners), but they have a long way to go still.
