This little place in the food court serves AMAZING FOOD! Fresh and yummy, excellent value (rice + 3 entrees for $8.49+tt.) and great service. Best green curry I’ve had in this city. Get thee here now !
This Indonesian food stall has good quality of food at a cheap and reasonable price at the food court in Tinseltown. The owner or server was very friendly. She introduced all the food that she had at the counter to all her customers. She was very patient and listened to the customers. The flavour of the Indonesian food was very authentic and delicious. I couldn’t believe I could find this good Indonesian food stall in this neighbourhood. The parking lot offers two hour free parking at Tinseltown. That is awesome!! There is a lot of seating area in the food court as well. You can pick any seats that you want.
The best and most authentic Indonesian food in Vancouver! Not many choices for Indonesian food in vancity but this is a must try if you want to get your authentic Indonesian fix
Authentic Indonesian food is hard to find in Vancouver, so it was great when Bali Thai re-opened in the International Village food court. The prices are decent and the owner is very friendly and inviting. They offer rice and side combos. My favourites are the rendang (caramelized beef curry in coconut milk), eggplant balado, and tempeh. Bali Thai’s rendang is sweet instead of the normal spicy version, but they’ve cooked the curry down properly so that the beef and sauce are full of rich, caramelized flavour. There’s also the bakmi which is done really well here. Nice balance of flavours between the cooked meat+mushrooms, oil, and broth on the side.
I was just strolling through the foodcourt when a friendly face peeked out from the Bali Thai counter asking what I would like. I was a bit hesitant…I’ve had my share of spinach chicken with peanut sauce, green curry and pad thai, but I never put Thai cuisine high on my list. The charming woman offered some several samples to tempt my palette and she won me over with a delicious carmelized beef dish known as Rendang. I was blown away at the complex fusion of flavours in the tender beef paired with coconut rice. The savoury sweet sophistication was far beyond my expectation for a styrofoam plate in a mall food court! For less than $9 I ordered the 3 item plate. For the second item I went for the corn and veg fritters which resemble flat veggie pakoras with distinct corn overtones. I tried one with and one without peanut sauce… Both held up well in their own way. There was a slight crunch but I think I could of had more if they were sitting for a little less. The flavors strong held nonetheless! My third item was the kale. It tasted pretty standard – no strong flavor, which made it a nice pairing with the rich rendang. I had a sample of the chicken curry but it was a tad hot for me. I can’t wait to come back and discover the remaining items the menu with my girlfriend!
Awesome food on a budget. With friendly owners. Mee Ayam is a must. Generous portions for lunch or take out. Ask for the fried onions and the hot sauce.
Want to taste indonesian authentic cuisine in Vancouver? well i don’t know how many are there, but this one is trully enjoyable delight in a downtown location, it have moved from harbour center to international village, and definitely, the place served as fast food type of indonesian food where you can pick two items and rice and go on your own busyways, or you can also wait a little longer and get the bakmi 🙂 which is indonesian noodle. What i love about this place, maybe this place is one of the few rare places that serves tempeh, yes tempeh, an indonesian classic food made out of soy beans. I don’t know the whole process of it, but it produces goodness and comfort food for me.the food in general tasted good, the very least decent, but more often than not i’ll say it’s slightly above average, and the price is definitely worth to swing by to grab your indonesian comfort food.overall i would recommend this place for quick bite of indonesian comfort food, and i would suggest trying the tempeh, and the bakmi if they do have it. will definitely come back if i do miss indonesian food. and yes that’s yellow rice! 🙂 mangkr.wordpress.com
