My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time during the weekend of celebration. She got a huge bonus from her company. After celebrating at honey salt, the next night we decided to find a fancy place for dessert. Upon googling, we saw a camp fire dish at a dessert parlor called mosquito. We couldn’t resist.Trying to find parking on a Saturday night in Gastown is like waiting for the Canucks to win the Stanley cup. We circled and waited for 30 mins. My girlfriend wanted to change her mind but I was patient enough.Upon entering the ambiance is modern, romantic, sophisticated. We loved the environment. It had a sexy classy feel. I highly recommend this place for date night by the way. We chose to sit up at the bar. We have a close clear view of the kitchen pass bar and we are comfortable socializing with people and industry workers. We were disappointed that their camp fire signature dessert was taken off their menu. They told us that each season they change dishes. Man was I ever pissed LOL. But we hoped what our bartender recommended would be just as good. We ordered the Thai basil and cherry chocolate bar, and the candy cap mushroom praline. Visually these dishes are very modern and sexy. The flavors are very bold. They explode in your mouth. You can feel every ounce of labor to bring you that punch to your mouth, wow. My heart was set on the camp fire dessert but these recommendations were just as I expected. I did notice their key lime coconut dessert at the pass bar and it looked amazing. I would love to come back and try that particular dish.As for drinks my girlfriend got the makoto senpai and it was delicious. Hint of gingery spritz, beautiful color, beautiful presentation. We loved this dessert parlor. We definitely would come back again to try their key lime coconut dessert. We had a wonderful memorable night here. We were also told they do high tea as well. Perhaps we may invite a group with us next time.
Found this dessert place on internet and saw the pictures so we decided to give it a try. The place is a bit dark so its good for relaxing. The washroom is very unique and I like the French tutorial playing. The desserts were good and delicious. Comes with so much flavor and not too sweet. A bit pricey though but its worth to try.
Came here for their Sunday afternoon tea. We were blown away by the sheer beauty of the offerings. The savoury and sweet tastings are simply stunning. We loved most of them but found a couple elements to be a bit dry like the yogurt sponge on top of the raspberry and blood orange cake. Even with those small missteps it was an amazing service and well worth the price.
As soon as we entered this Gastown gem we were in for a memorable experience. You could walk by Mosquito and not even notice it’s there! Once inside, we were greeted warmly and enthusiastically by our server who explained how things worked in this decadent champagne and dessert bar. I got a creme brle with warm orange madeleines, candied pumpkin seeds and meringue. It was divine! That brle was one of the best I’ve had. My sister got a fancy dessert version of a bounty bar, which was pretty close to an actual bounty bar but decadent and gourmet, the flavours were on point! Excellent service, comfortable atmosphere and luxurious sweet treats, Mosquito is a must for any dessert lover in Vancouver.
This is the best dessert place in town. Great atmosphere. Good service (consistent every time I go). I love the dessert. They are innovative and delicious. I mark it on my calendar to drop by at least every 3 months to try out their new offerings. The drinks are great as well. The the best part is that you can learn French while going to the ‘loo’. Lolz.
Of course you’ll find a trendy dessert place in Gastown! If you’re willing to splurge on dessert, check out Mosquito. Last time we were there, we had the pumpkin saffron creme brulee (YUM!) and bounty opera (think of a high class Bounty Bar). We liked the creme brulee more, the bounty opera had a lot of coconut (too much for me). It’s a bit pricey but like I said… if you’re willing to splurge, this is a great place. everythingbutweddings.ca
