There only appears to be handful of American-style bbq joints in Vancouver; this is one of them. The shop is a casual barbecue bar/joint located in Gastown, near Waterfront. I had their Baked Mac and Cheese, which I added pulled pork to for an extra $6 and their Fried Chicken Sandwich. The food was very tasty, albeit a tad on the salty side – I’m a huge lover of salt, so I was okay with it, but I think that there are some people who might find it to be a bit too much. I find the prices to be a tad steep, although not outrageous. Service-wise, the staff is quite friendly, although the food can take a while to come out. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit: this is a great place for some very tasty comfort food and barbecue.Baked Mac and Cheese ($13 + $6 for Pulled Pork):4.5/5I absolutely loved this dish. The noodles were perfectly cooked, being tender and yet retaining a nice bit of bounciness. The sauce was thick, creamy and rich, and very flavourful while the breadcrumbs provided a nice bit of texture. I added pulled pork for an additional $6, and while I was initially worried when the dish first arrived by the lack of meat present, there was actually a fairly generous amount of pulled pork buried beneath the noodles. The meat itself was very tender and juicy. It was purely salty however, and I personally prefer my pulled pork to have some sweetness. The dish overall was pretty salty: I do love salt so I was okay with it, but it might be a little too much for others. Although the castiron bowl/skillet it was served in is relatively small, they do pile it pretty high and the portion was relatively filling.Fried Chicken Sandwich ($12):4/5This sandwich contained three generous pieces of fried chicken meat as well as potato chips, tomatoes and cilantro, and was dressed with mayo. Although they appear to have used white meat here, the chicken was relatively tender and quite juicy, and had a great crispiness. It was quite salty on its own however (and I’m saying this as a great lover of salt), and is best eaten together with the sandwich. I loved the addition of the potato chips, wich provided a great additional crunch to the dish. Personally, I didn’t really care much for the cilantro – while I’m not one of these people who can’t stand the herb and finds it soapy, it didn’t really add much to the dish and was a bit stringy, I personally would have preferred just boring old iceberg lettuce. This was quite a tall sandwich – I could not fit the whole thing into my *insert dirty joke here* – and was quite filling.

This place has kind of gone downhill since I was there last. The brisket was super dry. Fries are some of the best though. Also Mac noddles were undercooked and chicken sandwich turned into mush half way through due to greasiness.

Amazing smoked chicken wings and excellent non-pretentious staff!!! Hands down best bbq in a while and great prices considering that all the meat is ethically sourced. Love this place. Surprised the rating isnt higher. It is a strong 5. Come see for yourselves.
