While downtown setting up our booth at the BC Home & Garden show D and I took a quick break to go grab some food. We didn’t want something heavy, there was going to be enough of that over the week of the show, so we decided to try this vietnamese place because normally you can’t go wrong with vietnamese. We started with salad rolls, or at least we’d hoped to but they came with the rest of the meal. I think they were a special one because they weren’t on the menu and had shrimp and what looked like chicken possibly? The ingredients in them were fresh but there was a weird zing to them that made my tongue tingle strangely so I’m still not entirely sure if I enjoyed them or not. We each got a can of coke, but man are they expensive. For mains D had lemongrass chicken which wasn’t on the menu on the wall but it looked good. Mine was the Q Special Spicy Satay Noodle Soup. When I asked what was in it she didn’t mention the chicken balls, just the beef balls and well done beef. The meat was okay, but it would be better if they had done the beef rare. The noodles were alright, nothing special, but not difficult to work with either so that went okay. The sprouts and basil were fresh, which was nice. The broth would have been great if they hadn’t relied solely on chili oil for the ‘satay’ part. A good satay broth should have flavour and heat, not just burn. The more I had, the spicier it became because the oil just sat at the top and got more and more concentrated over time.It was okay pho but I’m not sure I’d care to go back between the price and the fact that it wasn’t anything really special.

Nothing worth Stopping for at this place. Their Pho broth is from a can and there is nothing inspiring about any of the rest of it. There are other choices nearby which are much more appealing.

Excellent spicy beef pho. Not sure why this gets meh reviews their spicy beef with egg noodles is awesome, the broth is great and noodles cooked perfect! I also like their spring rolls and salad rolls. Plus the lady who works there is sooooo sweet, I think ii is a married couple and I like to support small business! Much better than the chain in the culdesac (they have very fishy broth). My go to!

Had the chicken vermicelli…everything was alright but overall a ‘meh’ experience. Nice service but just didn’t have love in the food…rice noodles were overlooked and too soft… Cucumbers were serrated… Would like to know how the pho is but probably will stick to ramen across the street…

Don’t like it. It is not very good in my opinion. The peanut sauce for salad rolls was very thin. The spring rolls were flavor less and the shredded pork was not what we expected. Sorry to say that i Wouldn’t come here again

Great Pho and Rolls. There are very few great Pho places in Vancouver. Burnaby has their 24 hour pho cafe, but Q Vietnamese my be the best darn pho in Downtown. I went for lunch and ordered the Beef Pho. The broth was clear and very flavorful, loaded with beef trimmings and beef balls, the noodles were perfectly cooked. I also ordered the chicken rolls which were very fresh and crunchy, it came with a generic peanut dipping sauce. Don’t let the small interior of this place fool you (it seemed to be a mother and daughter working) but I was served within 10 minutes of sitting down. Excellent service and friendly assistance with ordering from the menu. 10/10 would eat again.
