Amazing selection. Friendly staff. For people who are both adventurous and have a set pallet. Also if you just like to try different cheeses and meats this place is the best!

I have mixed-feelings about this place. I like the idea of being able to go somewhere and have a sample of cheese and meats. I found the decor unique and the serving staff polite and helpful.I do not feel 1) the food you received on a tasting plate was worth the amount you pay. The beef carpaccio seemed to have more bang and flavour for your buck. 2) The selection of meat and cheeses they have is nothing special. You can go to Granville Island and sample meats like they offer here and probably at a cheaper cost. The only novelty is they can pair the meat, cheeses and condiments for you based on what they feel go together.Would I return? Probably not unless with a group of friends. It isn’t as special as what I had hoped.

Unique, however novelty. The choice of cheeses and wine pairings are great however our server was clueless and a zombie. If you are going to have a restaurant and serve only meat, cheese and wine at high prices, I would hope the staff are as passionate and knowledgeable about the products. I wanted a strong cheese as a recommendation and I was served a creamy Brie. Was kinda hilarious. Cool experience though and worth trying it once with guest visiting Vancouver.

Salt Tasting Room introduced the Italian Gas Station Experiment, in partnership with Port Moody-based Urbani Foods. Those who order wine, by the glass, flight or bottle, will get complimentary Italian tapas for the month of February.I got a flight of white wine and since I’m so indecisive, I told them my taste preference and then made the decisions for me. They ended up choosing:Synchromesh RieslingAverill Creek GewurztraminerZanatta Demasco foodology.ca

Great concept with their cheese, meat and wine tasting flights. Allows you to try a selection of products that you wouldn’t normally. The staff were very knowledgeable and super helpful in recommending items based on our likes and pairing wine to go with them. Would definitely go back. Portions look small, however they are very rich and flavorful so you don’t need much.

Location: gastown. Can either drive n park or skytrain to the Waterfront station then a 10 min walk. Btw, a very nice walk at night time with all the lightings on, just make sure you don’t cross the border to Chinatown…Just one thing is that this place is on one of the dark alleys so would be a bit nervous to walk alone at night time. Ambience: thought that it was a lounge with pleasant and soothing setting but it turned out to be a pretty interesting dining experience in a good way. It is a really a tasting place! It feels like going into a small bar with collections of cheese, cold meat, and wine. A very unique experience! Only thing is that their chairs or stalls are not very comfy. I guess they are not meant to be as a lounge; instead a place where people go just for good cheese and wineService: we went there around 10pm on a Friday night and it was packed. There is no host or greeter but once we entered, we were greeted and seated at the bar (that’s their only spots left). Then, a table came up. Our server was quite nice and friendly; we pretty much left him choose our wine and cheese/meat pairing. He checked on us and cleared the empty classes occasionally. We were comfortable there even though we are not really sommelierFood: we got a Tasting Plate with selection of cheese, meat, and condiment. it’s a small portion but we came after dinner so it was good. We also got their Wine Flight which we can choose 3 types of wine to pair with the food. And if you don’t drink, they also have the non alcoholic wine flight (pretty much juice soda) but still good :)) Overall, i would come back.

I love the unassuming and quite surprising entrance to this restaurant. I felt like I was there for an adventure and I wasn’t wrong. We had a lovely time with our group for a wine tasting event. I am not very knowledgable about wine so I am glad they are. I loved the combinations of flavours I experienced. We also had a beef stroganoff dish prepared just for our group and while it tasted good and the portion was HUGE it was slightly disappointing in its presentation. It was like a home cooked meal. The chocolate mousse was to die for. Oh my gosh I am still thinking about it even now. momparadigm.com
