Birthday cake from hell. My Partner surprised me with a vegan, gluten free cake which cost $50. The server was proud that it was her ‘first attempt.’ It was so horrible like a child put it together, an over cooked hard pancake with excessively sweet frosting. They obviously put to much xanthan gum and mixed it too much. I have had vegan cakes before and this is a joke to even claim you are a bakery. You couldn’t even pipe in ‘Happy Birthday’ on the cake as not equipped. Lol?! Thanks for ruining my birthday. We didn’t even bother going back for a refund as we don’t want to try any other products. A shame, as Wallflower is pretty good.
I really enjoyed the sandwiches here. Tried the BBQ tofu and veggie melt and both were delicious. The gluten free bread is great and works perfectly in the panini press. At $6 for a sandwich, it is very reasonably priced too.
Great sandwiches. While gluten free, you don’t feel like you are missing the wheat! The menu is fairly small but that’s not at all a bad thing; they execute it well. I quite enjoyed my pizza melt while my wife liked her chicken, bacon and cranberry! We would definitely come back!
The Wallflower’s little sister is 100% gluten-free and very vegan-friendly. They’ve taken their ethos of making their menu safe for as many as possible and turned it into a free-standing bake house and sandwich shop.Their sandwiches are terrific and their baked goods are respectable – next time, I want to try the sticky buns. They’ve also got a freezer full of products to take home, freshly baked breads and buns, and a slew of gluten-free and vegan products on their shelves.I think they’re going to do well in Gastown. onewetfoot.ca
