Brunch done right that wont cost you an arm & a leg!Opens at 10 so you dont need to wake up early & line up to secure a table. The interior is top nosh with beautiful decor. We got a table instantly & were greeted by friendly staff. Our waiter was amazing from start to finish. He was very knowledgeable of the menu. The crispy bacon & egg was better than it sounds- soft boiled egg wrapped in bacon then battered & deep fried. Creamy & crunchy deliciousness. The spam & eggs were accompanied by a bacon Parmesan biscuit & deep fried green tomatoes. The spam was pulled pork squished into a spam like shape. Everything worked well together on this dish. The chicken & waffles were well worth it & for only $17! It comes with 2 massive seasoned crispy chicken breasts & waffles galore. The sweet chilli dressing dizzled over gave the dish an extra wow factor! Best chicken & waffles ever!!!!My recommendations- the chicken & waffles. Your taste buds will thank you!
We had the pleasure of being served by Otto. He was very personable and was a top notch server. He and all the other staff we came into contact with represented TCK very well.We tried the appetizer he recommended (a delicious mix of cheeses and meats). The flavours mixed together very nicely. We also tried the fish of the day, a scrumptious cod that was cooked to absolute perfection. It had the most wonderful seasoning on it with a variety of vegetables cooked under the freshly caught fish. It seemed to my wife and I that each item on the plate was carefully chosen to complement the rest. It was by far the best cod I have ever had.We finished off with a wonderful vanilla custard type item. It tasted like vanilla ice cream except it wasn’t frozen. It had a crust of different items that again was complementary. This is definitely a place where you want to take your time and enjoy each bite. Highly recommended.
I went to the restaurant with a friend this Sunday to have brunch. I ordered their Crispy Chicken & Waffles (and my friend their Beluga Lentils & Eggs). Based on their food alone (details below) this restaurant would have been a solid 4. I did have an issue with their service however. Now, the staff members are quite friendly and reasonably attentive. However, the food took a very long time to arrive. We waited easily over 30 minutes (probably closer to 40). In fact, we actually flagged down a waitress because we were afraid that they might have somehow forgotten our order. I don’t know if this is typical for the restaurant or if we just happened to catch them on a bad day, but the long wait did leave a bit of a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended), and I am a bit hesitant about returning again.Crispy Chicken & Waffles ($17):4/5This is a very generous portion, consisting of two large pices of fried chicken breast and two small waffles, and was accompanied by sides of dijon mournaise, spicey ketchup, and syrup. The chicken was great. Even though it was white meat (which, of course, tends to be dry), it was still quite tender and moist. It was well seasoned and flavourful, and coated in a nice crispy batter. I actually prefer this rendition over that of Chewies, which I had found to be a tad too bland. The waffles were a bit flat and thin, but still tasty: soft, buttery and mildly sweet. I really liked the variety of condiments that they provided, all of which were tasty (although my favourite is still the syrup). This is probably the best rendition of chicken & waffles that I’ve had so far.
Exquisitely crafted boutique cuisine that is complimented by an enjoyable service staff and a well thought out atmosphere. The chicken and waffles are excellent!Portions could be described as modest (some would say small), but for the most part the prices are equally as modest.
Best chicken and waffles in vancouver. Crispy, well seasoned chicken towered on a soft waffle. Three sauces whose flavours meld together perfectly. Well worth the $17 breakfast, and definitely shareable.
Nice presentation, but both entres (snapper meunire & pork 2 ways) were quite bland. Sauce was good, but there wasnt enough. Disappointing given other reviews & their special 5th anniversary menu…(2.5/5)
Neat little restaurant in Gastown. Serving up local organic brunch favorites. Casual atmosphere with quaint interiors that’s perfect for meeting up with friends for a meal. I had the chicken & waffles with side of house-cured bacon. Portion size of the chicken is on the larger size, came with maple syrup, strawberry sauce and a dijonnaise sauce. Deliciously fried chicken went well with maple syrup and dijon sauce. The waffles were made of cornmeal was a very interesting offering compared to other brunch places.
