I came to the Fox & Fiddle on St Patrick’s day with a small number of friends. As expected, the place was packed, and we were told it would be a 45 minute wait at least. We chanced it, and to our luck (of the Irish?) we got in after only 10 minutes. The interior is pretty average, with an attempt to create the British pub mood by adding Guinness memorabilia everywhere and dark wood panelling along the bottom half of the walls, however to me I felt like I was just in a Milestones or a dolled-up White Spot. However, at this point I’m being quite picky. We were sat on the patio and praise the good Lord for those patio heaters, or we would have been frozen. We first ordered a round of Guinness (naturally) and it took a solid 15 minutes for them to come. That being said, this place was solid packed all night so I can’t really judge the speed of service on one of their busiest nights of the year. The Guinness was great and poured correctly (something that’s rare these days). After another half an hour, the food came and to say the least, it was average. The nachos were a couple of waffle fries caked in cheese, green onions, and peppers, but the cheese to fry ratio was way off, we basically were eating a mound of melted cheese. And normally I wouldn’t care, but for $13, give me something I’ll want to order again. To be brutally honest, with all of the pubs in Langley with their character, great brews and delicious food, I wouldn’t return to the Fox & Fiddle. It’s just too average to compete with the charm of the rest.
Ordered some take-out and was told it be 15 minutes. A half hour later, nothing. The place wasn’t busy so no excuse. The kitchen was just extremely slow or the bartender (with whom you have to place an order for take out with) was very inattentive. Either way, I left and won’t be back.
The food is always consistently good. Best pub fries in town, order with a side of their house gravy. The order of fries are on the large size, (larger cuts of potato).Bartender John, demonstrated exemplary service.
New owners does NOT mean better service or better quality. We used to go all the time but the new owners let the quality of the food and the service go. The nachos are way over priced for burnt chips and barely any toppings and how about the staff stops chatting by the bar and take some drink orders
Best service! New Beers. We went to fox Tuesday night. We went for some beers and apps. My server was helpful…..suggested great dishes I would have otherwise not noticed. Told us if the specials…..never had a moose head but it was awesome! Will definitely be back! And thanks to my server (bill said SEETA im pretty sure that was her name) you were awesome…I will definitely have the Irish nachos again
Fox Rocks. Well the food is usually pretty good, I have eaten here probably 20 times. Best appy is the Buffallo Chicken, meals are priced as you’d expect for the establishment. Fish and Chips are not bad for a non-ocean restaurant and the beef dip is good. Fries are also pretty reasonable and both my kids like the kids menu.Manager has been there for a long time and is very good should there be a problem.Service has its ups and downs, when its busy the service is horrible. *** They charge cover for special events like UFC etc, and dont allow kids in during these times.
BOILED steak anyone. Our family lives local and went in for dinner..Ordered steak sandwiches which were on as a SPECIAL.They arrived luke warm and after a few cuts we found our Med rare steaks were in fact well done.My wife got to return hers and I had started to eat mine!! They would do nothing for mine. The second for my wife was RAW not rare RAW and the server wanted to argue with us.The steaks had grill marks on them and NO juice at all 100% boiled in a bag. These were the most repulsive steaks we have ever had.STAY away.Well if you like boil in a bag steak and severs that like to argue. Then enjoy.Have told our local neighbors as well.
