Nestled in amongst East Indian food stores and furniture shops is the Great Bangkok Thai Restaurant. It’s interior is rather dingy, with even the toilet tank in the men’s W/C having been glued together (!). There are some decorations, but you don’t get an authentic Thai ‘feel’ from looking at it.One thing that IS authentic, however, is the heat; the place lacks an air conditioner, so the heat in summer is reminiscent of South East Asia. Since it takes a while for them to cook the food, it becomes a race to see which gets cooked first: you, or the food.If you can stand the heat, however, this place has some of the best Thai food ever I have tried – although you may end up drowning in sweat by the end of your meal!
