Great staff and delicious food since the 1990s, but horrible food since new owners took over Summer 2016. Have tried 3 times since then and it’s worse each time. Big price increase and poorer quality ingredients. Nice people, but bad food so we won’t be ordering again.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU HAVE GREAT DENTAL COVERAGE CUZ YOU MIGHT BREAK SOME TEETH ON THIS FOOD. FN UNBELIEVABLE. CHRISTMAS DAY WE ALWAYS GET CHINESE TAKEOUT FOOD AND DECIDED TO TRY THE GOLDEN MEDAL IN CLOVERDALE. WALKED IN AND ORDERED THEIR DINNER FOR SIX. I COULDN’T EVEN SMELL FOOD COOKING SHE ASKED IF WE WANTED TO COMEBACK BUT WE SAID WE WILL WAIT. 10 MINUTES LATER WE HAD ARE FOOD AND HEADED HOME. THE SOUR PORK AND ALMOND CHICKEN WERE SO TOUGH NOBODY, AND I MEAN NOBODY COULD CHEW IT!!! HARD AS A ROCK. WE GOT SOMEBODIES LEFTOVERS HEATED UP IN A MICROWAVE. MY GRANDMA IS 90 AND REALLY ENJOYS HER CHINESE FOOD BUT THIS WAS THE WORST EVER. THIS IS MY FIRST ONLINE COMPLAINT ABOUT ANYTHING, BUT THIS WAS THAT BAD!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS BONELESS PORK MY ASS!! AND HARD AS A ROCK ALMOND CHICKEN???????? WTF
We have ordered here for years I must say something is wrong we bring our friends and family here for years but recently food has gone way down hill my kids could not even eat the fortune cookies cause they were stale all ten of them!! The sweet and sour was soggy so hard we through it out the chicken chow main had litterly no chicken in it we ordered it friends on a Friday it was ok not as bad as a Saturday very very disappointed and would like them to look at there cooking staff because they are going to loses allot of good long term costumers! if they see this and want to do something they can reply I will give them my info
Please dont let the decent reviews fool you ….we just ordered take out from there and by far the worst tasting food we ever ordered. The chicken they used in the chow mien was a grey color and we are not sure if was chicken at all?? Lemon chicken 80% batter and the Beef chop suey was soggy. We ordered from there because of the reviews we read seemed to promote good food but be warned the overall taste and quality is terrible.
The Golden Metal has been our go to Chinese food place for over 15 years. We have never had a bad experience. We like the owners and the service. If you want to save time, phone ahead and find out when it will be ready. Very good value for the money.
We ordered the chicken chow mein and the chicken fried rice and I’ve never had such BLAND Chinese food before! No flavour whatsoever! Not impressed!
