Consistently good. A little gem in the heart of downtown Cloverdale – unless you’re a local, I don’t think you would give this place a second glance. Tiny little hole in the wall with great service and terrific sushi!
Consistent neighbourhood sushi. This place is a small hole-in-the-wall in downtown Cloverdale and we’ve been going here for a few years before the Clova theatre and the place is always busy. The food is reasonably priced and consistent and service is always pleasant. Box dinners are good value and the sashimi is fresh.
Wow. Some of the worst sushi I’ve ever had. Served us 3 pieces of rotten sushi. So fishy, that was the first time ive spit sushi out before. The nigiri was just a square piece of not fresh fish drapped over dry tasteless rice. The gyoza and tempura were not terrible. The service wasn’t good either. Nothing about this place makes me want to go back. Ew Ew Ew.
Good Local Option. The decor is very nice, good service, and the food is tasty. However the proportions are on the smaller side. Decent sushi if you don’t want to venture far from the Cloverdale area.
Best Sushi I’ve EVER had!. For someone who has spend most of her life eating in Richmond, I know sushi. The first time we ever went to Nikko, we ordered the Tempura. They make, quite simply, the best Tempura I have ever tried in my entire life! This is an absolute MUST if you go there. Their specialty rolls are also quite good. My husband’s favourite is the crispy roll, which incorporates their incredible tempura. Even their california rolls are good, and I grew tired of the basic california rolls a LONG time ago. The ambience is cute, but really small. It’s not a place to go with a lot of people. There is one table in the back that can hold about 8 people, but otherwise, 2-4 is a good number. Service is good. It is quick, and you won’t be waiting long. They are also quite friendly, but speak slowly, as English is definately a second language. You definately feel welcome when you enter, and they will take care of you until the moment you leave.Over-all, we LOVE this restaurant. When guests come to Vancouver, we always take them here, even over places in Vancouver proper or even Richmond. If you’re far away, this place is worth the drive. We try to get there at least once a month.
Let down. Place was clean, well decorated, intimate small 15-20 seat setting. Selection on the menu looked fine and the staff and service appeared to be fast. Ordered various sushi rolls and they were good. However, ordered some traditional japanese dishes (non-sushi items) and they did not meet our expectations. If you are going to have califorina rolls or any other garden variety rolls you can get at the mall, this your joint. If you are an experienced patron of Japanese cuisine, you will be disappointed. We will not be going back.
Best Sushi Restaurant in CANADA!. This restaurant is THE best sushi restaurant i have ever been too in my life, it has a nice atmosphere, great service, LOVE the people great food, and very low prices! The family that runs the restaurant is a local treasure to Cloverdale. I recommend Nikko any day, anywhere!
