We came here for lunch as we saw that this ramen restaurant was highly ranked in 2018. We came here around 12. The restaurant was quite empty with one customer only. We were seated right away. Servers were friendly. We knew the bamboo charcoal dark miso ramen was famous, so we ordered it and gave it a try. The ramen came out pretty quickly. We tried the soup base first. We couldnt really tell what flavour it was although it was a dark miso base. We tried the ramen. The texture of the noodles was good. The chashu was very tendered. Unfortunately, we did not have a wow experience when we were eating the bowl of ramen. Maybe other flavours like shoyu, miso and shio ramen would taste better? We were there eating the whole time. Some customers came in but the restaurant was not full around 12:30pm or so. Comparing to the other ramen restaurants on Robson, this one was less busy obviously. If I would like to eat ramen next time, I might go somewhere else but not this one
Motomachi Shokudo is consistently one of our favorite ramen places in town. The texture of the ramen is fantastic, the broth is sufficiently rich, and everything is beautifully presented. The dining room itself is tiny – don’t expect to be able to get a large group in.
New owner and new menu. The previous owner retired and the head chef became the owner. I was here last time, I ordered their signature bamboo-charcoal dark miso ramen and I remember the noodles were too soft and the soup was lukewarm… This time I ordered Shio Ramen and I was impressed! It was the best shio ramen I had in town and everything was perfect! Highly recommended! Ill try the spicy shio ramen next time!
Not easy to find but worth it. Very small place. Food was great. I had the charcoal ramen that was delicious. The food and ambiance were very authentic.
It’s okay. They have lots of different stuff on the menu. We got the shio and shoyu broth and thought it was meh. I’m not a huge fan of the clear types of ramen broth. Both soup was on the saltier side. I prefer tonkotsu soup more.
Its nice to try new tings like the bamboo-charcoal miso ramen. Nice thick soup, kinda rich but still delectable and very healthy for you coz bone broth and charcoal are considered superfoods nowadays. Chasu was ok and the egg was perfectly cooked.
I tried their Bamboo Charcoal Miso Ramen and thought it was interesting but didn’t really taste that different from a typical miso ramen. The portion was a bit lacking and the extra chashu I ordered was lean and slightly burnt.
