I love Nook. It is still my favourite spot for authentic pizza; I think the difference between it and other spots (ex nicli) is that the sauce is more flavourful and offers more depth. Love the crostini options for a meal teaser. I’ve always had great service and the food had never disappointed.
I never was a big fan of thin crust pizza until I started eating here. Before Nook, I was all about the thick crust. Turns out though, their margherita is amongst the best pizzas I have ever tasted, which is why I dont mind to shell out $17 for a small pizza. Not only is it great-tasting, but fresh and not heavy even after youve eaten it all by yourself. Nook is not just pizza though, their pasta collection is great as well. Dont miss the burrata and gnocchi from here try it and youll know why. The locale on Denman is extremely busy, yet manages to be just as cozy and relaxed as the one on Yew.
Holy crap! Just had one of the best meals of my life here!!! This is the best place for Italian food. Little line when I came in, so come early. However, as a result of waiting so long, free white bean spread with tapenade on toast!! Got seated at the bar and was greeted by an amazing bartender/waitress. First dish was the antipasto, which was amazing, with a good balance of meat, cheese, bread and greens. My main dish was the gnocchi with baby meatballs. 10/10 and I devoured it within 2 minutes. The tiramisu for dessert was jaw droppingly fluffy, thick and rich! Come here for an amazing meal you won’t regret!!
Was nervous at first about how the service was going to be. I read a negative review about the extremely rude hostess, sassy server and the unhygenic bartender/cashier. But when I arrived they kindly seated me immediately and took my order/payment without any trouble. They didnt interact as much as other restaurants either but I didnt mind, I just wanted my pizza! Ordered the white bean crostini and it changed my life. The margherita pizza was lacking in flavour and cheese though.
Having eaten there many times, it’s a cozy little place that offered good pizza. Their daily pizza specials are worth a try as well. My usual go-to dish is the Rigatoni boscaiola and tiramisu.
Italian..?. $9 glass of wine was one step up from vinegar….so noisy I should have brought earplugs…people trying to get in were bumping into us and talking over our shoulders on their cellphones while sitting at the sorry excuse for a bar…WAY to hot and no ventilation except when people held open the door…the Rigatoni…? excuse me..? whose idea of Rigatoni was that…the pasta was no better than no name from No Frills and more than likely was and it was loaded with so much sundried tomatoes pieces that’s all you could taste and someone should explain aldente to these guys…Italian…? more like west coast dreaming of Italian…I will not go back to a $18 dollar Rigatoni that was horrible…I didn’t pay for it and ended up walking out…thumbs down
