Amazing food, excellent service with a comfortable unpretentious atmosphere. Will definitely be going back soon.A typical meal would include a salad or appetizer, a pasta dish and a protien dish. Save room for dessert, the lemon posset is delicious without being too heavy after your meal.
Amaaazing anchovy and egg appetizer, highly recommend it. Burrata and prosciutto platter was decent, but I’ve had better Burrata. Also found the pasta slightly underwhelming after all the glowing reviews, but maybe I got the wrong one (pulled pork ragu).
Lovely pasta! I really enjoyed everything I ate there, especially the spaghetti noodles made from squid ink (it sounds weird at first but they mix it in with a bunch of oils and spices so they just taste like regular spaghetti noodles!) There was also a nice little dish with fresh burrata cheese and appetizing garlic toast, also a few slices of prosciutto. I was pretty impressed because it’s usually hard to make good prosciutto.
Delicious fresh pastas. Great wine selection. Love the genuinely friendly and unpretentious service. One of my favourite places to go in the Westend!
Wonderful!. Highly enjoyable little restaurant in the west end. We went to Tavola largely because of the recent positive review in the Globe. We were not disappointed! This place is noisy and happy. We started with the buratta and prosciutto appetizer. Paper thin slices of prosciutto and a good chunk of the cheese. Both opted for the short rib special. It was out of this world! Short ribs should be moist and tender. These ones were all that and more. I have never tasted better and I am a short rib fan. No dessert. Well worth a visit.
Great food, mildly hostile service. Despite my two contradictory bookings through OpenTable (one for 7:00 and one for 7:30), our table had given away when we arrived somewhere between 7:35 and 7:40 pm. A more considerate restaurant would have called to clarify. Traffic along Denman had slowed us up.The hostess’s greeting involved an immediate defense of her decision to give away our table and pointing to her watch, which I later realized was at least 7 minutes ahead of my smartphone time. Only after I was suitably crushed by the possibility of not getting in for this special occasion dinner did the hostess begin to problem-solve to find us a spot. We were sat at the bar 10-15 minutes later, which was a suitable resolution. Food was superb. Bartender/ dinner service was unengaging, uninterested, and nearly unresponsive. My dinner partner requested a second glass of wine and the bartender proceeded to dry glasses, put away bottles, and a number of other small tasks before grabbing the wine bottle to refill the glass. Just to make sure it was clear we were on his time. The enjoyment of the beautiful food (a symbol of care and hospitality) was completely undermined by staff’s barely disguised hostility. A truly wonderful restaurant maintains a commitment to welcome its guests even when it’s fully booked and the guests are late. We wont be going back.
Amaxing pasta. We had wonderful dinners at Tavola. We especially liked the chicken, cacio e pepe, anchovy pasta. Pork chop was a disappointment however. Fatty, tough and dry. The sides were excellent however.
