Incredible!. My wife and I had our wedding here in August, and it was fabulous. Chef Bradford personally met with us to create a menu that would suit us. He was very flexible and accommodating when it came to taste varieties, dishes and allergies. The venue itself was breathtaking, and as the sun went down, the bon fire outside kept everyone warm and added to the atmosphere. Staff was superb and catered to our every need. Definitely one of the best venues on Vancouver Island.~Dan
Mislead on birthday. I made a reservation a week beforehand for for a birthday dinner for three, was assured that they had a birthday surprise that they do to celebrate special occasions, I reminded staff when they phoned me to confirm my res. but wouldn’t tell me what they do as it is a surprise.I said could bring or purchase a cake from them but was assured not neccessary. Waited for surprise , eventually gave up and went to pay b]]] (almost 400 with with tip,) mentioned my disappointment and staff informed me cakes not allowed hustled out three truffles that come at end of every meal with happy birthday on plate . I would sooner have them admit they dropped the ball than insult me with truffles. I guess too cool for the locals that could be the repeat business…
Splendid!. Finally some decent weather on a weekend! . It seemed to beg lunch on a farm in the sun, so off we set to Amuse Bistro. The restaurant itself is lovely; seating is available inside, or on a covered patio, or on a sunny upper level deck, or on a more shaded lower level patio. We chose the latter. The menu was troubling, as we wanted to eat everything. Eventually, I settled on the stinging nettle soup, a delicious broth with nettles and fresh field greens, augmented by Code Farms beans (very popular with our two year old!) and a slice of bleu cheese.Husband wasn’t going to have an appetizer, but decided to have the salad, and was glad he did. The freshest of fresh greens (we observed the chef popping into the adjacent garden with a bowl and shears), a luxurious goat cheese, and a fabulous vinaigrette. Our main dishes were equally pleasing. I was sorely tempted by their quinoa with fiddleheads, but opted for the flatbread pizza with fingerling potatoes, kale pesto, and caramelized leeks as a more toddler appealing option. Hubby went for the burger, served on a housemade potato brioche, with smoked onion rings. Everything was wonderful; the potatoes on my flatbread were starchy buttery perfection, and Chef had no fear of garlic. The leeks were perfectly cooked. and the goat cheese was delightful. The burger actually had some life left in it, and the accompanying garnishes were excellent. The smoked onion rings were just a mite salty, but the light, airy batter more than compensated for this slight issue. We were full, but opted for dessert regardless. Hubby had a lavender panna cotta with a rhubarb compote, while I opted for the olive oil cake with elderberries and frozen citrus curd. Both were excellent, as were the espressos. A note on the service–Wayne was simply stellar. It was so refreshing to have a server who not only knew what was on the menu, but seemed to take pride in describing it as the dishes were served. We felt royally spoiled indeed, and can hardly wait for our next visit.
Best meal of my life, incredible, detailed service. We came to Amuse bistro as a group of 4 this past weekend. We were treated so kindly from the get go. The waiter gave us a tour of the lovely, cozy restaurant and was so knowledgeble about every item on the menu.I had the halibut and it was devine. The experience came with all sorts of surprises such as apertifes, and a truffle with our bill.Truly amazing food, displayed so elequently on everyone’s plate. Absolutely delicious!!!
Ohhh so disapointed… we are huge fans of the food here but at our last visit the duck confit was horibly oversalted and dry and the chuck steak sub par… chantrelle and mussel appetizers were BRILLIANT so we assume genius can have an off night…please lighten up on the salt and taste before serving….
Dinner. Great dinner, happy servers!
Perfect!. Location is stunning and worth the drive if you’re coming from Victoria. Service was impeccable. Food was DELICIOUS! Try the sorbets – they are so fresh and flavourful. My family and friends rave about Amuse and now I know why. I’ll definitely be back!
