I have always loved the Malahat and now love it even more! The view is just simply gorgeous and the staff are always attentive and there just when you need them. The food is always very good. Such a great atmosphere and certainly will be back!! You have to go!
For almost 50 years I’ve driven by this place, I was a regular at he Dutch Latch in its day but I now I have some catching up to do with the Chalet. Not only is the staff attentive and friendly the view is from the lifestyles of the rich and famous. The food is delicious with lots of fresh ingredients and the quality top notch. We had the falafel wrap paired with a quinoa salad not on the menu but willing to make the substitution with pleasure. The meal was so generous we needed to take the desert home, a blackberry blueberry pie and a strawberry rhubarb pie which were outstanding. The crust not as good as my Grandmothers but that’s asking a lot, it was amazing and I’d have it again. They had a special menu for Aboriginal but unfortunately we will miss is it. I won’t drive by without thinking of the pie, need to go again.

We went here for dinner , there were only about 5 others eating , we waited a half hour to get a drink , 25 min later our order was taken , finally an hour later our dinner arrived , seafood platter and a burger . Both were cold when served , the waitress was rude as well . we left , and only paid for our 1 drink . went to The Rock Cod cafe instead and enjoyed the rest of our night . Will definitely never go back to back to the malahat chalet again .
Today was my first time going to Malabar Chalet restaurant since it changed management a couple of years ago. The food is much better now! Fresh and local sourced ingredients. I had the chicken pot pie and dirty fries. Both were really good!! The view made my meal that much better. A little bit pricier but totally worth it. Portion size was decent. My boyfriend had the spaghetti and it was huge.
We have been to this place a few times now and it never disappoints. We stopped in after a long drive in the rain tonight and let me tell you , even without the amazing daytime view the dining room was beautiful. Dark with candles and a relaxed vibe. We had dirty fries ( truffle oil , parm , sea salt , green onions) , a gigantic burger on a portofino pretzel bun with a amazing side salad with peaches and persimmons and a fig compote olive oil dressing . The food was so so amazing. We took a piece of white chocolate nutella cheesecake home. The staff are helpful and friendly , 5 shining gold stars for this place. We love it, one of best places to eat on the island!
This place since the new owners a few years back is doing things right. The food was tasty the Caesars are great and service is up to par. You cannot beat that view either. It’s such a perfect spot for brunch on a clear day.
