Spent a breezy Sunday brunch at Merridale’s bistro patio. The eggs benny was fabulous, and everything had a unique little twist. The grounds are so lovely to wander through as well. I’d recommend it for a special lunch with girlfriends or taking the folks out for the day.
Pizza not edible. Was there with a group of 15 and as pizza was the only thing on the menu that is what we had. At 15.00 you would expect an edible pizza but to a person at our table we thought it was the worst. Service was mediocre but the music was good. Please fix your kitchen and staff as you have a lot of potential not realized.
Disappointed. Was there with friends for the last pizza night of the summer. Should have stayed home ! Service was lousy and came with an attitude. Pizza was mediocre at best. Band was so loud you couldn’t even carry on a conversation. This place needs help.
Soggy Pizza. I have eaten at Merridale twice. The first time the menu was varied, the service was good, and we had nice seating. The second time we went was on a Sunday and there was only pizza ( or a salad) on the menu. There were a good 12 – 15 empty tables on the porch and patio area but when we were asked if we had reservations and we said we did not we were seated in the bar overflow area and I had a table facing the door where they took the dirty dishes. We ordered two pizzas and hands down they were the worst pizzas we had ever eaten ~ soggy and salty ~ one had big slabs of pork on it covered in pesto and the other was house smoked bacon and mushrooms. Overall the experience was very disappointing and I doubt I will ever go back.
Skip the food and stick to the cider. First of all, lets set the record straight – I love and will continue to drink Merridale cider, but they should seriously rethink being in the restaurant business if they can’t get better staff. We visited the restaurant on July 30th, on a quiet Tuesday. The setting is lovely and the views from the restaurant are tranquil. The hostess and server on the other hand were indifferent, disorganized and inefficient. While we were quickly informed what was NOT available, nobody pointed to the specials that would have interested us, but were not discovered until much later. It took over 45 minutes for the food to arrive and in between the servers forgot to refill drinks or water and did not apologize or explain the delay. Every time we needed anything (including the bill) we had to hunt for our sever. The food was mediocre and did not make up for the lack of service. The muscles were overly salty to a point that the broth was not consumable and the pizza dough, promised from the wood fired oven, had a cardboard like texture and seemed undercooked. The toppings were fresh and flavorful. The salad was fresh and had an excellent house made dressing, but after the wait we skipped dessert. The cider cheered up some in our group, but not our designated driver who sat in-front of an empty water glass and vowed never to go back.
Wonderful romantic quality food
Such potential…. But no control over the service staff or food coming out of the kitchen…both of our lunches were dry, flavourless and inedible. The service was non-existent until the end and by that time, the day was ruined. They scenery and decor were lovely…
