Poor Customer Service. We ordered two wraps and substituted both our orders with yam fries. We love the yam fries so much that we order them to go in order to enjoy the leftovers in the evening! The lady confirmed our order after I had placed my order and then after my boyfriend placed his order. Then she confirmed both our orders correctly again.Unfortunately, we didn’t get what we had originally ordered. We got one regular fries and one yam fries (not in to go packaging either). Not a problem, so I let the lady know that our order was incorrect. However, the lady insisted that is what we had ordered because it is what she had on the receipt. When I told her that isn’t what we ordered. She told me they ran out of yam fries and that we had gotten extra anyways in the one order. She asked if I wanted the fries or a refund. I asked my boyfriend if he wanted fries and before I could answer she refunded me $2. (which didn’t make sense) and took the fries away from me. I was dumbfounded. She also kept her tip money. So here is a tip to the rest of you. Eat somewhere else. You’ll get what you order and not a bunch of excuses and a bad attitude.
Good, when they have everything. I visit regularly. Depending on the day, they are sometimes out of stock on some things, which I find annoying. The service is alright, but I don’t find the lady especially warm and friendly. The gentleman is much better. If its rainy, or chilly, they have a shelter in front of it to dine inside of, which has a warm fireplace. The food is always pretty good.
Kudos for Great Service. Wonderful people working here, and when the people are great, so is the experience. Night and day from the surly servers over at the Pub, and way better food.
Top Ten. This is a wonderful place to dine take-out style when on the road. Rob and wife provide both high quality tasty food and friendly service. I have had the best tasting fish and chips ever , and recently a very good Kayak wrap that dispels the myth I have to travel to France to get good food. My Victoria favourites are Santiago’s and Lao Vientiane.
Terrific lunch!. Honestly, there is NO better place to have lunch on the Cow Bay strip. Forget all others! The food is much better than (no, blows the doors off of) the pub and two other nearby restaurants that are more expensive, fancier, snobbier, yet a mere shadow of the quality of this place. Everything is SO fresh, fresh kaisers, fresh lettuce, fresh tomatoes, fresh homemade sauces, excellent and creative menu items that you just would not imagine being spot on, like the blue cheese burger (omg, if you love blue cheese – TRY this!!), or the bacon, egg, cheese kaiser with pesto mayo (lettuce tomato). I even resisted the urge to add ketchup to the latter and really enjoyed it as it was and as silly as it may seem, it’s a big deal to find love in the food. Well in this cute little place, you will find it here. It’s delicious and it all works! You just won’t find quality like this little place anywhere else around here and at these prices? – go here!!15 Jul, 2012AMAZINGLY Good Find – Yummy Food!!!!. We had a grilled cod burger, which was stacked with thick pieces of yummy grilled cod, fresh lettuce, tomato and sauce…seasoned with homemade seasoning. I had the best pulled pork sandwich I’ve had yet (better than Smokin’George’s in Nanaimo), with two Americanos and some most excellent seafood chowder. The chowder was really salty (but I am pro-salt), and seasoned lightly with dill bringing the other flavours to the forefront, like the celery, carrot and white fish. I found a perfectly cooked (not overcooked) clam in my very first bite from the bowl. The place (a stand, really…) is hidden behind an outdoor patio, that is blue and white, and surrounded with beautiful flowers. They say that the patio is heated in the winter. They put in a pellet stove and show old movies for the locals. Most importantly, you could taste the love in the food, and Rob and wife were amazing hosts to us and we were surprised at finding such a shockingly terrific little hole in the wall. We look forward to going back and for brightening such an otherwise relatively gloomy, cloudy day, we both say thank you!!!
I enjoyed it. Great poutine, but the grilled cod is better bet than the cod burger; they need to rethink their cod:bun ratio.
Robs has the best coffee in Cowichan Bay. Better than the bakery, better than Zoes, better than at the cheese shop. Only the Cow Bay Cafe comes close. Robs uses a one-shot premium brand espresso machine. Lavazza makes the best tasting cappuccinos and americanos. Always a friendly face at the window, with covered Woodstove heated seating across from the takeout window. A great place to meet friends for that morning cup, or for a nice light lunch.Of late, they have begun serving some of the best fish and chips in the bay too. Hand battered to order, I found it crispy and nice and moist inside. Not nearly as greasy as just down the road.
