Just ok. Beautiful restaurant interior, and hostess staff is usually pleasant. Food is mediocre though, with many of the rolls being rice, rather than actually fillings such as crab or tuna. There are better sushi restaurants in Kelowna to eat at for the price…
After reading all the reviews I was ready for the worse. I was pleasantly surprised however. The girl serving us ( Stacy) was very nice and attentive. The food I ordered was really good ( sunshine roll)The only complaint I have is the restaurant just had few tables occupied and it took them an hour to do couple of sushi rolls. That’s unacceptable people have to go back to work…I was late by the way 🙁 Will not be back for lunch that’s for sure but I can’t wait to have another sunshine roll , maybe for supper next time 😉
The restaurant was completely empty but we got the worst service I have ever had. For one, the waitresses ignored us the whole time, we had to get up and get them when we wanted to order. Two, the bar was covered with dishes from earlier customers, and I had to ask at one point for them to take our old dishes cause we where obviously way past done with them. And three, well, I could go on forever. My advice, re-train your hostesses completely or fire them and re-hire some with some common sense.
GOOD!. Last weekend, I was at Genjie with my friends. I wanted to have regular menu but my friends wanted All-You-Can-Eat option. The restaurant policy is either everyone does regular or everyone does AYCE. I followed my friends for AYCE and we started order whole bunch of foods. I was surprised the quality of AYCE was pretty good. Tempura and gyoza were tasty, and I mostly enjoyed the rolls and teriyaki. For $17.95 and the amount of food I ate, it was absolutely a great deal. I definitely recommend and will go back.
Good Gone Bad. A recent engagement will be my last at Genjie. Having been referred to this establishment by the proprietors of a leading Okanagan winery a few years ago I have enjoyed the food and service of this establishment countless times. That has definitely changed. The restaurant seems to appear vacant most of the time, and if the food is in any reason… that is now understood.Miso soup arriving at the table borderline cold. Entrees from the kitchen arrive lifeless, tasteless and over cooked. Almost appear to be warmed vs, cooked fresh. There is no predictable pace with service and when the staff is questioned on the food quality it is stated it’s due to a lack of good kitchen staff and as a result turnover. As a regular customer who has often brought business to this establishment through clients and referral, I asked the server that the Manager or Owner please give me a call by leaving my business card. That was on February 24th; today is March 22nd.In closing, that in itself indicates to me there is no concern for customer feedback or service/food quality. In closing BUYER BEWARE that this establishment has definitely taken the low road and it no longer is what it used to represent. Thank goodness there are other choices in Kelowna that will eventually win Genjie’s customers and drive them out of business where perhaps they belong.
Never again.. The experience we had at Genjie tonight was atrocious, especially considering that we were the only table in the restaurant. It took a full half hour from when we asked for water until we got it. It took well over an hour from when we sat down for our first plate of sushi to come, which then turned out to be the wrong food. The tempura was cool, as were the spring rolls. We ate it all anyways because at that point we were nearly ready to eat the tables. It took roughly another hour for our second order of food to show up.The sushi itself was not too bad, but certainly not worth the wait. Food quality gets at best a 2.5/5, there are much better sushi places in Kelowna. I know that without a doubt none of the people in our party will be ever returning to Genjie.
Very rude.. I went here with my girlfriend for lunch, I wanted the all you can eat lunch special and she only wanted a drink (she’s a vegetarian.) We were told she would either have to order the special too or sit at another table..wtf. So we said we would just leave then and they still made us pay for our drinks (which we didn’t even touch) I’ve never felt more disrespected at a restaurant in my life. Don’t eat here.
