Blood Sausage/Blood Pudding. Bought some blood sausage a couple of months ago, and decided to haul it out of the freezer today. Popped it in the oven and cooked it until it was nice and dark. The best blood sausage I’ve had in a very long time! I stopped eating it because every time I bought some if was full of too much buckwheat or some other filler. The blood sausage at Helmuts was perfect for me.

Served raw chicken. I went and spent over $60 in 4 meals and grocery items there. Two of the meals were the chicken schnitzel. Both were 3/4 raw!! My friend bit into his and nasty raw chicken. We went back to bring this to the owners attention he just gave us two new schnitzels. The new ones were about half the size of the ones previous also with different breading. Owner was not apologetic at all and just gave us new sandwiches. No new sides and no refund. We will not be going back there ever. You think a place wouldn’t serve raw chicken
Not great. Great selection of german deli items and meats and great quality in the showcase. However the lunch did not live up to our expectations The razor thin pork schnitzel over deep fried was so dry and tough it was not edible. The bun was decent so ate that along with the soupy coleslaw and left. My husband’s meat sandwich was ‘ok’ the fries, which are pre cooked and reheated were not a good choice. Imagine reheated friesI agree with ‘taste buds’ mustard overdone and they are certainly not threat to Woodfire and let me add Illichmans for lunch. Staff are great, and maybe I could have gotten a replacement on my lunch had I complained, but I was not optomistic the next thing I ordered would be stellar The owners are aware of the quality of the food they are serving and obviously don’t care. Therefore I will not go back for lunch.
A nice change.. When I first checked out the menu, with the German-inspired cooking, I figured with the selection they’d maybe give Woodfire a run for their money. I tried their Thuringer Bratwurst sandwich, that came topped with fried onions and sauerkraut. The Combo also included wedge fries and a choice of soup of the day, or potato salad. I opted for the soup of the day which was the borscht. Bun was good, and bratwurst tasted great, but I expected more fried onion and sauerkraut than what came on the bun. My big complaint was the Dijon mustard. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Dijon, but it was so overpowering in the sandwich that at times it’s all I could taste! Maybe it could be mixed with the mayo and toned down a little. It was a decent enough meal to be willing to try it again, but it’s certainly no threat to Woodfire.
