Nice quiet cozy atmosphere. The interior is beautiful with soft lighting, not so dim that you can’t see your friends’ faces. I ordered the double chocolate cake on the dessert menu and it was delicious – chocolate cake and chocolate mouse layers topped with chocolate ganache and drizzled with hazelnuts.

Nice but…. I was crossing downtown and early for a dinner date so found an excuse to stop in here finally for a drink.I had read a recent review about stellar Vancouver cocktails and 1927’s ‘Port Authority’ was on that short-list.I found a comfy seat along the narrow banquette appointing this lovely, plush ‘snug’ in this gorgeous downtown hotel. The server passed by me 3x until I finally signalled him; he explained that he wasn’t my (or ‘a’ server (?)) but he’d send someone. Okay. Lovely female server drops by and takes my drink order. Then 5 minutes later a different female server drops by to take my drink order again. Weird. My drink arrives…by the male ‘non’ – server. LOL. It’s a nice dessert-like version of a Manhattan-style cocktail: $13. The room is exquisite, but with absolutely no music playing on any of the 7 speakers in the ceiling the effect was ruined: I could even hear a nearby single tapping away on his tablet screen in the void. The actual bar is only 4-seats, making it a wee bit too intimate for strangers to hang out at. At least there’s no annoying TV ‘screens’ in sight.5-star Hotel, but the lounge rates a 2 or so: good drink, nice decor. The rest needs work to truly fulfill the experience.
