I’ve been here a few times and all their sandwiches are amazing! I’ve had the real crab meat, chicken pesto, roast beef, and smoked salmon sandwiches. They were all fantastic. I think the roast beef is my favourite! Delicious!
Awesome Omlette. I have been living and travelling around Canada for the last 8 months from the UK. Best Omlette I have had since I arrived! Staff friendly and helpful too! Great breakfast all round.
Bambo Cafe Quinoa salad rocks!. Best Quinoa salad ever!
Dirty hands….. I ordered some pastries to go, the waiter who just brought back some dirty dishes grab the pastries with his bare hands. Although their food looks great, that just gross me out and not sure how they handle their food when no one is around.
The best sandwiches in Gastown! Try vegetarian #7 with eggs on top. Yummy! The owners are really nice people. My #1 place for a lunch time!
Pretty Average place. As a group of 4 ppl having read the reviews of Bambo we were quite enthused to visit it for ourselves, as in general the reviews are very favourable. But disappointingly our own experience was not quite as positive. We arrived at around 10.15am on a Sunday morning, to no queue, which was exciting. But upon entering the cafe found there was little or no atmosphere. There was no music, no low hum from the other patrons chatting, the staff were unwelcoming and indifferent and it all felt a little awkward. We took a seat and began to browse the wall menu which was as expected, simple but appealing and seemingly well priced. After choosing what we wanted and ordering it took around 15min for all our coffees to arrive to the table, basically they forgot one and when our group of 4 made up around 40-50% of the ppl in the cafe it was a bit disheartening. The coffees were ok though, basic, but ok. But then we had to wait around another 15min for our meals to arrive, not a massive wait, given, but when the atmosphere was awkward, the coffees had taken a long time and you re looking at a chef in a tracksuit top who looks sweaty and stressed who is only 6ft away from you 15 min feels like an age. When it did arrive the food was again, ok. Good price, around $7-$8 per plate but when it says hash browns on the menu we were greeted with 4 small slices of a small potato, the omelets were nice but small and the toast arrived around 5-6min before the rest of the plates, meaning was cold and limp when it came to eating it. On the up side the crab and avo sandwich I ordered was tasty and well sized. Its easy to sound like a whiny whingy customer when writing reviews like these, but given how busy the cafe was when we arrived, the fact we didn’t have fussy, awkward requests and we are relatively forgiving when it comes to wait times and general level of service I would say that given the number of other options in the area around Bambo they need to raise their game to stay competitive. An apology would have gone a long way for the missed coffee, a slight tweak in the portion size would have helped and an increase in the friendliness of the staff would all help massively.
Hands down, best omelet I have ever eatin (ham, cheese and mushroom). Perfect little place for a breakfast or lunch. Friendly staff, good food, good prices and good portions. What more can you ask for?
