We came here for my birthday tonight and I really loved the food! I would have ordered more drinks but we never saw our server! We kept getting incorrect orders and they never came around to check. It was really unfortunate because everything was so good that we wanted more
So we have eaten here a bunch of times over the last 4 or so months and have really enjoyed our meals….. Until recently. They just changed the chef, and he changed almost the entire menu as a result, and the food has gone down hill severely. It wasn’t bad on our last visit, but it wasn’t great either. Bland, flavourless, very oily, poor flavour/textural combos. The price isn’t terrible for what you get, but the food is just average, at best. The margaritas are pretty good though.Genuinely disappointing turn on what was becoming one of our favourite spots to eat… We won’t be coming back anytime soon.
I just had the worst dinning experience of my life, at my previously favourite restaurant. Wrong food, terrible service, awfully prepared drinks, and to top it all off a mouse ran under my table while I was eating. 10/10 never returning to this restaurant again.
The services is good, no problem there. The food was disappointing though. We ate at this restaurant frequently prior to the fire. We recently went in for dinner and it was bland. The fajitas were bland and the chimis were underfilled with chicken but overfilled with rice and were also bland. We loved this place, but now we’ll skip it. It also feels more like a bar now than a restaurant; not impressed.
Recently renovated and refreshed after a devastating fire gutted the restaurant. Cafe Mexico has made a huge comeback!! Enjoyed an evening with family and we were all very impressed with the quality of our food. Fresh, flavourful and filling. The burritos are large and scrumptious; I especially enjoyed the Market Veggie. The chimichanga was a favourite at our table too. Lots of care and attention with house made sauces, sides and tortillas. The upside-down pineapple cake with ice cream is delicious. Setting is very nice too and service was great. No reservations for tables under 8 so expect a bit of a wait. Prices are mid-range and comparable to but way better than those chain restaurants ($40 for appy + 2 mains). Open late so busy.
We had an amazing time at the bar of Caf Mexico. Our bartender was nice and tentative, although I wondered whether he really was listening to us when he asked if he could take our plates away and whether we wanted dessert. Minor details aside, the food was amazing and the menu was vegetarian-friendly for my dining partner. It’s always a struggle finding someplace with enough meat and meat-less variety. Their sangrias are amazing too – I look forward to going back and trying their other concoctions. This was my first visit post-renovation and I love what they did to spice up the place. It’s got a nicer atmosphere, less tacky, and a great place to go for late night eats. Three thumbs up.
