Affordable diner food. Great for an inexpensive option, especially for breakfast for under $10. Not huge serving sizes, but it does the trick!Nothing fussy or fancy about it – no showcasing the local, organic, community-connected cuisine of Victoria. Just your typical average diner meal – no complaints really because it’s still decent food and prices are reasonable. Location is smack in the middle of Government Street and setting is nice and modern with ample seating. Seems to be very busy with tourists. Owner moved Frankie’s down to Vic from Nanaimo where it was very successful to be closer to family. He used to own the Moxies restaurants in Victoria so he’s very popular, walking around checking on everyone and chatting with locals.
This dinner taste SO bad, a supermarket packed lunch is 10 times better than what they offer here. I can cook better stuff with a blindfold. Service is great though.
Went here as it was close to the Parliament and the museum (which my class was visiting). We were served right away with excellent staff (the waiter I had was friendly and easy to talk to). The food came quite fast and tasted wonderful. The ambiance was good for a diner. Would recommend to come here.________________________________I ordered: Express Lunch Trio (It was Tuna Melt and Butter Squash soup that day) Diner Fries (It’s a big portion)________________________________My friend ordered: Momma’s Tomato Soup
I visited this diner for breakfast. Had their Irish Coffee which was good to start with. Then ordered their Benedict’s Eggs. The waiter recommended medium poached and I must agree it was good. Bit expensive for the breakfast but it was less crowded and calm.
The food and service was all right. The menu is what you would expect from a diner, nothing fancy. If i was in the area looking for a diner, I’d go back.
Rating should Actually should be -10. Unfortunately system only allows positive rating.Stay away from this place.Ordered the Sandwich Soup and Salad lunch Special – Hot Turkey Sandwich, Split Pea Soup, Broccoli Salad. Sounds great. Broccoli salad appeared nice, like nice tender broccolini – but was inedible. So tough I could not chew through. Hot Turkey Sandwich was on a slice of burnt day old toast topped with cold coagulated tasteless gravy. Again inedible. The soup was ok (& hot enough), but that happens when you just have to open a can and heat it up. Just add salt and pepper to cover the canned taste.Husband had a burger with fries and Caesar Salad. Frozen Burger patty, frozen fries, mediocre Caesar Salad with store dressing and fake bacon bits. For $13.00, you would think they could a least have a fresh home made burger….Young server Ciara was good, she went back with my concerns about the salad and then the sandwich. When the bill came, I asked Ciara to be compensated as I only wanted to pay for the soup (I had not eaten anything else on the plate – yuck. ( at no fault to her). She came back and said ‘We don’t do things like that’. I then asked for an email address and name of the person that told her this. She went away and came back with Frank. Frank apparently couldn’t give a shit about his customers, staff, or any feedback from them. Frank liked his salad and maybe it is supposed to be unchewable. Frank did not care that my meal was inedible. This place has not been in business very long and from this visit, can not see it lasting. The only thing it has going for it is the location and visitors will come, accept his horrible food, high prices and terrible customer service because they are just passing through (which is obviously why he does not give a shit about his customers). Visitors/Tourists – – KEEP WALKING… There are many many places to eat in Victoria that use FRESH food, not frozen – or go downstairs to BURGER KING where you will be respected and get what you are expecting. CIARA – find a new job, this guy Frank does not deserve you.
Diner lamb dip…what can I say! I far prefer lamb to a roast beef dip. Tender lamb, great bun and beautiful au jus. Great choice of sides, loved the apple fennel slaw with it. Comfortably decorated with friendly, attentive staff. Good value for fresh made food.
