Perhaps the only bias I have right off the bat is that I’m familiar with the chef, his training, and his mouth-watering cooking. Of course, not everyone can be a fan, and I’ve heard that not everyone loves Thai or southeast Asian cuisine done the way he envisions it. That being said, I have ordered catering for parties of 4 to 6 3 times over the holidays and once again this week. Each and every time, my guests, my partner, and I enjoy an explosion of wonderful, strong flavours and quality chicken cooked just right (and I don’t like dry chicken. I’ve never eaten in, so I don’t know how to service is like. I get the vibe whenever I’m there to pay that some are awesome and super helpful, and some are rough around the edges, but whatever. The food is overall great and my favourites are the fried brussel sprouts, and fried onion garnish, and their delicious curry sauces. One might think I’m some defender of this place or a secret staff LOL adding fake reviews, I can assure out I’m not. I’m not a staff, a stakeholder, the owner, or anything of the sort and even though I know the chef, two out of the three times I was there to pick up the order, I was helped by other staff that I have never met before.

I purchased chicken sandwich $9 and Hainan Chicken Rice with soup $11… I hv to say terrible food they made. A men made chicken sandwich without wearing gloves . He touch laptop and everything around. he didn’t wash his hands and than he start to make my order . Other white guy wear one glove but his other hand grab all my food without wearing glove. I hv no idea the gloves is protect ur hand or customer food .both of them non stop touching things around when they made food. Disgusting !!! And I tried to not saying , bringh food home. The food were Terrible taste !!! And the soup only gave half cup. The cup size was small size. The chicken sandwich is not sandwich, is MacDonald Burger size. Cost $9. Holy SxxT . And never NEVER go back this store again. I m. So regret give them tips ….honestly! I. Really pissed off order food from them…

This little shop had no signs so I was really confused what they were cooking up but their small menu had different Asian style dishes. I had a tough time deciding on what to order but the workers were helpful to explain and provide options! I decided on the HAI NAN CHICKEN RICE. This dish was mediocre, personally lacking flavour for myself. They paired it with a fermented tofu sauce which was rather strong and I didn’t feel like it paired well with the rice mixture. The rice was a little on the dry side and also lacked flavour. Their chicken was very nice and juicy! Probably saved the dish for myself. It was also paired with a light broth which was a nice side. Im not sure I would try again, maybe I catched them on a bad day but their workers were very nice though.

I do t know a lot of caucasian people who like congee so when my friend who is Caucasian mentioned this delicious congee place at the quay, I figured I have got to check it out! So a week later I head to the quay. Freebird is located where the crepe place used to be located. I was sad to see that the crepe place was no longer there. I ordered the chicken congee and it was exactly how my dad makes it. The congee was of nice and smooth consistency, chicken was moist and topped with green onion and ginger. It was really delicious. I was impressed that my friend found Freebird. I highly recommend their congee on a rainy day!
