You wait for a place like this. Looking for breakfast on a Sunday morning before leaving the city, and ultimately decided on Fresko. Definitely a greasy spoon, and maybe a bit of a gamble, but it paid off. I couldn’t resist getting the lamb burger with feta cheese, which was, along with the potatoes that came with it, delicious. Great deal too, at about $8 for the combo.
Great value – excellent food – wonderful people. This cafe is an old school diner with amazing value and fantastic food. the all day breakfast special (2 eggs sausage,ham or bacon toast and real fried potatoes) is by far the best value I’ve seen downtown. The owners are personable and pleasant and you’re certain to see some characters when your there. No pretension, just honest good food at great prices.
Been about a year since ive been, so maybe things have changed. After a few good positive trips here, thinking i’d found a little gem, had a couple of bad experiences with gyros involving old chicken (seemed like it was picked off a bone) gross salad, and mr smoky fingers going out for a smoke, coming in, rinsing his hands maybe at the most, the result being that the gyro seemed to taste like nightshift guys cigarette. That was my last straw there, wont be back. Hard to wash cigarette gyro from my memory. If youre stumbling out of a nearby bar drunk, this might not be such a bad place. But then again you probably arent reading this review beforehand to coordinate your post bar munchies. I think thats how this place survives. Sorry…
Great place for really cheap eats! I just got the breaky special $3.99 for 2 eggs, 2 sausage, roasted potatoes, toast, and free coffee. The potatoes where kinda bland and they don’t have the pretentious organic syrups that the hippies rave about but it fits my bill.
