Right in the heart of the Uptown shopping area is s great place to stop whilst shopping and have a bite to eat or great cup of coffee. There staff is always friendly and the cafe is bright and airy with outdoor seating under cover to protect you from the elements. Their soup and sandwiches are always fresh and made with quality ingredients, and if youre a coffee fan they make your favourite style of coffee they even offer French press.
Baked goods, not to good. As a former resident of Alberta I used to go to a lot of Good Earth Coffee Houses’ around where I worked and lived, so seeing the friendly sign of Good Earth pop up in my new home town Victoria, I was quite relieved. Only until my first visit to this uptown location. I was happy at first, got my latte and scone, sat down at a semi-dirty table but was greeted by a nice employee who wiped it down for me a couple minutes after realizing. The latte was perfect, and even had a design on the top, even thought it was not busy at all and it took about 7 minutes for me to get my drink. The scone on the other hand was hard, and flat like a disc, it just looked better then most of the muffins that were clearly under baked. As I was sitting there I noticed a lot of people would grab their drinks or food and leave right away, not to concerned, I found a paper (a week old, with a lot of missing pages might I add) and started reading. Only to be interrupted by a very loud back kitchen, with yelling, extremely loud laughing and story telling about things I wouldn’t dare to even type out. I am not a conservative person but I honestly couldn’t focus on my reading let alone be relaxed in that kind of environment. After I thought it ended, a couple of girls came out from the back and started the same thing in the front, while serving customers and just ignoring them and continuing talking to the kitchen staff. I couldn’t bare to stay more then 15 minutes before leaving along with many others, unfortunately.
Nice cozy spot. Coffee was good. My only concern was when an employee started picking her acne and then went back to serving customers without washing her hands.
New Coffee shop at Uptown. This coffee shop moved into the triangular space that has been vacant at Uptown for almost 2 years. It was hard to imagine what the space might look like filled and now that it is, it’s hard to imagine what it was like empty as they have made good use of the space. There is a bar down one side, and plenty of seats scattered to the point. Oddly, the coffee comes in medium, large and xl sizes. This could be because of the free small coffee given out on opening day. I’m not a big cofee drinker, but the drinks seem a bit on the small side to me.The cookies are really delicious from the case..but seemed to be a bit stale on the samples when offered. They also offer options for breakfast, salad, and lunch.Service seems to be good so far, and the staff are quick to recognize the regulars.
Nice to have an option other than Starbucks prepackaged airline food! Latte was great, food was good…
