Was happy to find a vegan place here. Food is by weight, so if you go crazy, it could cost a lot. (Although its definitely one of the cheapest places I have ever been to for by weight vegan food!) The salad dressings were fantatic. The falafels also blew my mind. Wasn’t a huge fan of much else…go for a rocking salad or dessert.
I look forward to coming to green cuisine every time we come to Victoria, as its one of my favorite places to eat. This trip I told my husband I planned on eating there once a day because I was craving it so much. (Please read all the way down – added a 2nd positive visit after). I was very disappointed this visit. At 2:00 in the afternoon on Monday and a bunch of the stuff was empty and I can’t be sure but it seemed like their prices went up too. It seemed crazy expensive for the few things I got. I got a few things but mostly everything was super bland and the foccacia bread (one of my normal favorite things) was very oily. I got my kiddo a cookie and myself a muffin and both totally lacked flavor and didn’t taste overly fresh. That being said the cashew aoili was amazing. And the tempeh was great! I may go back on my way out of town today as I know sometimes places just have off days too and I’m truly hoping that’s what it was.edited to add. I went back right at 11:30 Wednesday morning and everything seemed to be back to normal quality and taste! Which I was super excited about. (I added a pic of the goodies I got) The staff was super friendly this time too. So I’m a happy lady again!
Ok, as a vegetarian I was really hoping to like this place. Alas, it is everything that is wrong with vegetarian restaurants. The food was bland and all tasted the same; like nothing. I ended up paying way more than I should have for that amount of food, because you pay by weight and I was very interested in the scalloped potatoes (they were not interesting at all). The place was not very clean and smelled like old soup. The one redeeming thing was their desserts. If you are hankering a decent vegan dessert, these ones are not bad…
Very good vegan desserts. Help yourself and pay by weight. Like a healthy Bonanza if you remember those places. The pad thai, the falafels, pickled beets, samosas and more are good. The desserts are very good for vegan or GF. Hearty fare tho I didn’t think it would be. Decor is awful so don’t expect a transcendent experience. A quiet place tho with a mixed crowd so people watching is enjoyable. Focus is on good quality food here.
So delicious!!. I love Green Cuisine, it serves comforting vegan food. Cant go wrong!
Awesome. I wish there was a place like this in vancouver. the cashier with the beard and the pink diamond print club monaco pants and the brown mushroom shaped hat was so cool. i will always eat here when im on the island.
While it could probably use an interior decorator the food is warm, comforting and vegan. Lots of choices (I always eat too much) in a buffet style place with a relaxed atmosphere.
