The owners are so cheap and you won’t feel like you’re a valued customer here. Anytime you ask for extra sauces, you will have to beg for it. We don’t mind getting charged for extra sauces at all but we heard the lady owner yelling at our server and complaining about us asking for more spicy sauce for our spicy agedashi tofu even after the server told her he’s charging us. Super uncomfortable. It’s not very smart of them to save pennies on something that’s so cheap to make. The whole dine in experience is ruined when you hear the owner yelling in the kitchen.
Great sushi, fresh and fast. Friendly staff and good prices. I’ve probably eaten at most sushi spots in New Westminster and this tends to me my favorite for the last 10 years!
Hayashi Sushi was pre-selected to be our go to place for lunch Monday, after a mid-morning medical appointment in New Westminster. We (as a threesome) arrived at the restaurant about 11:30 am, and were fortunate to find a parking spot very near the restaurant (the lot was busy).Once inside, seated (at a booth), and able to take a look around, I found the premises and setup to be very clean and neat, walls and furniture warmly-coloured, with small, colourful designs on the walls, behind and above the booths. There is booth seating on each side of the restaurant (4-5 booths on each side), and rows of small, 2-chair-size tables arranged in-between, running down the center of the place. We found the ambiance rather cozy.We were greeted upon entering, and service was prompt and cordial throughout our stay. The food: sashimi – assorted sashimi (15 pcs – with salmon, sockeye salmon, tuna, clam, a white fish, and egg) – it looked good, and tasted the same – nicely-cut pieces, very fresh tasting. sushi – dynamite cone, and California combo (with California rolls, and assorted nigiri sushi – egg, clam, shrimp, a white fish, and salmon) – fine presentation of well-made, fresh tasting ingredients – really enjoyed the distinctive flavours, and their sushi rice was sure good, and not overly-proportioned to the other ingredients. tempura – seafood tempura (shrimp, salmon, stick crabmeat, and tai) – first taste of an assorted seafood tempura, and it was very well-made – the tempura batter so flavourful and crispy, the fish and other ingredients inside, cooked perfectly, warm, moist, and tasty. udon – seafood yaki udon (side note: the bill says chicken yaki udon, it was actually ordered, but we received seafood – no problem or complaint from us, and it was not reflected in an extra charge on the bill – udon noodles, shrimp, squid, mussel, crab leg, cabbage, broccoli, sweet corn, carrot, and stock) – a nice presentation, and well-prepared – the stock, so light and flavourful, with no salt or oily taste, noodles and other ingredients cooked just right, without anything overcooked. We enjoyed our lunch at Hayashi Sushi food presentations were colourful, dishes very well-prepared, and the service perfectly fine. It was definitely a yum experience, and they made some new fans!
Good sushi at reasonable price.Love their Vampire roll, Prawn tempura and Green salad. My negative comment is some of their servers needs food safe training.
Still the best chicken yakisoba I have eaten!16 Sep, 2014I had the Vampire Roll (bbq salmon, spicy terriyaki sauce, avocado, imi crab, and tempura flakes), chicken yakisoba (fried noodle), and miso soup. So far so good! All very flavourful and seemed fresh. The bbq salmon on the roll was a little chewy but maybe it was due to it being bbq’d. Delicious nontheless. I will be coming again.
Do not order ramen or tofu there!!!. Ordered a chicken ramen as I didn’t feel like having sushi for dinner that day. surprisingly the Ramen was just instant noodle. they even put some of the soup powder that comes with the instant noodle. I could have the instant noodle at home. the fried tofu was unbelievable either.I attached the photo of the noodle and the tofu.
