Found this place actually only because we were trying to find somewhere to eat later at night and WOW! The food is so awesome here. The atmosphere is great – it’s actually nice to sit in a place where you focus more on the company you are with rather than dozens of tv screens all over the place. Went back here again the next night and will definitely be back again next time I am in town!(Addednm bonus: they have Somersby Cider on tap!)
Great place for hanging out, having a drink, listening to music and people watching downtown. Prices aren’t too high and the food tasted great. I like their cider and beer flights. We went on a Thursday night and the place was super busy but we were seated right away. They even asked if we wanted a seat far away or close to the music which was nice of them.
This place looks very attractive, it has good ambience, nice patio. But, food isn’t good, and in no comparison to the other places on Government Street like Bard and Banker. This place might be ok for a couple of drinks, but will definitely not recommend for food. I had a bad experience here when I ordered – soup of the day (onion soup), couldn’t even finish it !
A much-enjoyed pub venue during a recent stay in Victoria. It was our first evening out & about downtown, we were seeking a cool beverage, and something light in the way of food to go with it. It was a Saturday evening, about 6:40 pm when we arrived – the place was very busy, but thankfully, they had a table for us. Drinks: for Mom, an iced water w/lemon, for daughter and I, one of their flight of (four, 7 oz) beer tasters, and we wanted it to be Island brews, so chose their ‘YYJ Flight’ (or ‘2 Mile Flight’), which included:– Lighthouse – Lager– Driftwood – White Bark– Philips – Blue Back– Hoynes – Dark MatterWow! such a great flight – four very distinctive brews, and our first tastes of each. Cold, flavourful, and so tasty. Enjoyed each of them, but must admit the ‘Dark Matter’ and ‘White Bark’ were the two biggest hits this first time. The ‘Blue Back’ definitely gained some ground on those two, when we dropped in and did the same flight on two consecutive early-morning downtown walkabouts! Breakfast at our hotel at 7 am, beer tasters at Irish Times at 10 am … heh, we were on ‘travel status’, eh!Food: after huge fish & chip meals in Nanaimo earlier that day, we were not ready for large meals, and decided to share one of their pizzas — we ordered the ‘Italian sausage’. A fine preparation – thin crust and such tasty toppings – and just what our moods called for that evening. It was some pretty, and tasted so good.We have fond memories of our times & tastings at Irish Times. Good food and drink, and friendly, courteous, and efficient service to match.
Located on government, this bar features live music at night. A great selection of local beers on tap. Cocktails are almost 10 bucks each, beers 6.50. The calamari was bland while the halibut fish n chips was soggy and overpriced for 24 bucks. Once we ordered our second beer had to wait twenty minutes for the waitress to show up… That too cuz people sat at the table next to us! I’m thinking this is prolly the norm in a laid back town but it’s just not for me…
A friend told me about this place knowing that I’ll be visiting Victoria and we’ll be staying in the inner harbor area. The restaurant is located right on Government and it has great atmosphere. We were here on Boxing Day. We ordered the seafood chowder, fish & chips and the Dublin Dawg. The chowder was delicious and the dog was good! I was disappointed with the fish & chips as the batter was kinda soft and I’ve had way better battered fish. The restaurant is kinda pricey for the kind of food they serve. The building itself is beautiful.
I love this place. The food isn’t the best but the atmosphere is great. Live music, nice staff, and good service. I’ve been here many, many time and I’ll continue to go back. 3.5 rating due to the food not being great.
