My friend and I had a lunch at JJs Restaurant (VCC) once. We had an awesome experience there. JJs restaurant is a small restaurant inside Vancouver Community College (VCC). It owed by VCC for its students to practice cooking skills. The restaurant is only open a period of time during the day. Inside the restaurant is fancy design and the decoration is very simple. The table setting is of western style. People can see cooks who are making their food. The menu is very simple, includes Appetizers, Mains, and Desserts. All the food together are $24 person. It was a very great deal. Servers here were all students. They were very professional. We very enjoyed our lunch at JJs Restaurant. food.belindajin.com
Excellent food with consistently good student service! These young ones will raise the bar in our current restaurants…26 Nov, 2011Excellence!. This is our favorite fine dining spot for lunch for our office staff. Excellence guaranteed and it is a pleasure to watch these young people learn quality skills. They truly care about how YOU as their customer perceive the service as well as the menu items. Food is excellent and price is affordable by everyone. Reservations are a MUST!
Best kept secret!. I have been to JJ’s both for weekday lunches and also the famous Friday night buffets and I do have to say for the price you are paying it truly is the best kept secret. When walking into VCC you don’t think much but once you enter JJ’s restaurant I am very impressed how nice the restaurant is with great customer service (not perfect service but take into consideration they’re students). As soon as you walk in they always ask if you have any coats to hang up and from there they take you straight to your table.I highly recommend going there Friday night if you have a big appetite because for the price you are paying and the quality you receive it is amazing! My advice is to book the Friday buffet in advance because can get very busy. Attached is a picture of the dessert served at the buffet. Great spread!
I love the way we prepare things as students its always the most fresh ingredients as well as with the best instructors 🙂 I love my culinary arts at Vcc :))
Wonderful experience. I tried the salmon, prawn and scallion cake with thai lemongrass sauce and the lamb cooked two ways, slow cooked leg of lamb and pan roasted loin rosemary jus. my friend and I both agreed that the cake was a bit on the salty side but other than that it was pretty good, very creamy. I really enjoyed eating the leg of lamb and the potato wrapped in phyllo pastry side it came with. the pan roasted loin unfortunately was really really dry.I really like this restaurant. I think it’s a great way for people to enjoy good food for a low price and help out students at the same time. Our server was very polite – forgetful, but polite. (he forgot to bring the bread) I’m definitely going to return again. I find it strange how they don’t give guests the chance to fill out comment cards. after all this is suppose to be an learning experience.
Good value for your $$$. Great place to eat. Student chef and servers. Sometimes you need to have patience to eat here but the food quality is great. Worth your while! Friday night buffet is very good value. Reservation is high recommended.
I couldn’t stop raving about this restaurant!. JJ’s is a fine dining restaurant at the Vancouver Community College where they use to train culinary arts students in the college. So, basically, the ones cooking your meal and serving are all students. But don’t get me wrong, they may be students but the food is still good and for the price it’s worth having an awkward and a bit slow service. Try going at lunchtime so you can get a bang for your buck. Reservation is recommended.
