Delicious Korean food. Very friendly staff and every dish was excellent. Cooks made our kids Pajeon without egg, due to allergies. Went back the next day. 🙂
Pretty good Korean BBQ, comfortable, clean ambience, friendly and efficient service. The BBQ combos are very reasonably priced. I would go back.
Good: good portion sizes, generous with ingredientsBad: lacking in service, rundown decor, very greasy japchaeCame in for lunch during a Tuesday and the place is relatively empty with maybe 3-4 tables during our meal. From the outside, it looked like a hole in the wall small space but when you walk in, it was surprising a very large space. It looks quite rundown. We noticed a strong cleaning product smell so they must have just cleaned the place prior to opening. We ordered the bibimbap hotpot and the japchae. The bibimbap hotpot developed a small amount of crispy rice on the bottom but I would have loved to see more. I liked that they didn’t cheap out on the toppings and the ratio of ingredients to starch was high. The ingredients were also fresh, well cooked and seasoned. I understand japchae is normally a greasy dish but theirs was a tad overly greasy. You can see a clear oil sheen on the bottom of the dish. The service is also lacking after ordering. The two waitresses working spent a lot of time talking to each other. At one point, they had a couple friends dropping by and they spent more time standing and talking. I wanted to get some extra banchans but it was difficult to get their attention. When I did though, they brought generous portions. To be fair, you generally don’t expect great service at small Asian joints. This is the type of Korean restaurant that focused more on soups, noodles, and rice meals vs some that have large grills on the table and focused on bbqing meats to share. Overall, It does the job well and I would return if I am in the area and am craving Korean. It’s not a restaurant I put in my wish list nor would I travel a far distance to for.
Going to keep this short. Came of our cruise in search of food. Surprisingly found this wonderful restaurant. Really liked their food here.
Reminds me of my time in Korea. I like to go here once every few months for Korean food. This is my favourite Korean restaurant in Victoria. It’s home-style cooking, not fancy. I like the Ddeokkbokki, haemul-chon, twaenjung chigae, soondubuchigae, bibimpap and chapchae. I think I’ve had a spicy chicken dish, but forget the name. I love the variety of side dishes, unfortunately they are not always the tastiest. I notice they change them sometimes. The service is awkward, but I’m ok with that. They probably won’t notice when you’re finished eating, so just get up and pay for your bill. It looks a bit sketchy, but I’ve always enjoyed the food. The Korean grocery next door is my go-to place for Korean groceries.
Good Korean food for Victoria standards. Very busy and weak service. The best part of the meal was that there was a lot more vegetables being served than most mediocre Korean restaurants. I’ll come back but when it’s not so busy.
Just found this gem…..great Korean dishes… I shall be going back!!!!!
