Well Im not really sure what to say. On the positive, there is a line up all of the time so he neighbourhood clearly likes the shop. Staff were friendly and obviously taken the time to remember some of their regulars names. We were looking for a local coffee shop instead of the chain restaurants but this one was not for us. Its a animal cruelty free hipster type of coffee shop. I like the veggie offerings, some great teas, lots of potential to be great but the reality is that its missed the mark. Slow in he food prep, coffees are not all that hot and only about three quarters full. Breakfast Sammy was well not a do over. Donuts looked delish but I didnt have one. Music was too loud for early morning and the back part of the shop has the feel of a bar/storage area and the art in the walls was very depressing and dark (again thats my taste others will love it, it was well done). Sorry I so wanted to love it.

Coffee is ok but girl behind the counter short changes you by not giving you a full cup. I asked for a 16oz; she gave me 12oz of coffee in a 16oz cup. Not a one time thing; it happened three times. The real reason for the 1 rating is that the same girl seems to love dogs. She creates a lot of drama when one sort of walks in, which makes me feel its more about business than the dogs. I love animals more than people sometimes, but the problem with the girl is that she touches them all over but never hits the sink. Ugh! Once I saw her go right back to making a sandwich she had forgotten about. That did it. Sorry, but can’t go back. The place is kind of grimey, hippy to begin with but it’s about blind trust and when they break that trust like this, it’s never coming back.

aside from the coffee, this place has a very unique character to it, and makes for a very enjoyable place to lounge in.on the other hand, the only thing that i hope goes into consideration for the company is to make a stronger cup of coffee by adding more grinds. i understand that the strength of a cup of coffee is preferred differently from customer to customer, however, in comparison to other cafe’s, this ones coffee tastes like water. that being said, it is under my impression that this unsatisfying water to coffee ratio is a means of cutting costs through efforts of saving coffee grinds. at that rate, it is close to impossible to distinguish the flavors of the coffee.

This place is so good. I love the vibes inside the coffee shop, as well as their food and drink options. The Shin Dig salad is really amazing– healthy, tasty, and fresh! I love to come here to do work, go to events (they have a killer OPEN MIC every month), and just to have lunch 🙂
