YUMMY!!! Breakfast was amazing. Huge portions of good quality food for an exceptional price! My husband had the breakfast of champions: two slices of bacon, two pieces of ham, two HUGE YUMMY PEPPERY SAUSAGES, 3 eggs, two pieces of toast, and hashbrowns. This meal was huge!! It was only around $12. I had the eggs benedict: two poached eggs on top of sliced back bacon, and a toasted English muffin served with hashbrowns. Everything was super tasty. Hashbrowns were crispy outside and fluffy inside, eggs we perfect, everything was great. Service was pleasant and efficient as well. We came in and sat down right away. For the price, food quality, and service, I have no idea why people are going to John’s place and the blue fox cafe when this place has seriously upped its game!

Love the New Menu. Yes it is the same lovely, old, hard-working waitresses that have probably been there for 30 years. But the food is all new. They also have a loyalty plan in place but I can never remember to get out that punch card. The seafood chowder is really good and for $6 something it is a good deal. The Daily Sandwich special comes with a full sized bowl of the soup of the day and you can up grade for $1 extra. I am submitting a picture of a delicious yorkie that I enjoyed stuffed with roast beef and drenched in mushroom gravy. It was so fabulous that I was this close to licking the plate.

Disappointing – I wish I could love this place!. Oh how I wanted to love Paul’s! Classic diners are my favourite. Decor and service are wonderful but the food leaves a lot to be desired. French fries and onion rings are the frozen variety. No milkshakes (what, at a diner?) Pie and cake were the cheap supermarket kind, flavorless, with canned fruit and sad, limp pastry. If Paul’s would hire a cook that would keep the existing menu (well, jettison the lobster) but make everything from scratch, they’d have a real winner on their hands. And, why is there a lobster quesadilla on a diner menu? That is just plain weird! This place might be ok for a standard bacon and egg brekkie but lunch and dinner are marred by the fact that the majority of their food is frozen junk. Mind you, we didn’t try the roast turkey and Paul’s do roast their own birds. But if they can go to the trouble of roasting a turkey, why can’t they cut a potato and make a real french fry? I don’t get it! And for the love of all that is holy, pie should be homemade. Real apples, flaky pastry, lots of cinnamon, whip cream or a dollop of ice cream. Now you are cooking with gas! horsingaroundvictoria.com

Good food was served up in big portions for cheap prices. However, the service was terrible.I voted that I liked this restaurant based on food alone. Will I go back? Maybe, but if I recognize the same waitress, I’ll walk out. I observed the waitress walking empty handed and making multiple back and forth trips inefficiently, totally unable to multitask. We waited for several minutes with empty coffee cups at breakfast. My husband was ready to walk. Once we were finally acknowledged, the food came quickly. The coffee was good and food hot. The waiting just about killed us, seeing as we were with our toddler too. When we finished, we waited a good 10minutes just to pay! The restaurant was not busy at all — this was entirely a staff problem.BTW, for parents, this restaurant has high chairs and a kids’ menu, but no change table in washroom. So if you are looking for simple cheap food, and you’re not in a rush, this might be the place for you. If you are on any type of schedule and can’t function without your morning coffee then go somewhere else.
