I considered writing about everything wrong with this restaurant but I’ve wasted enough of my precious time eating there tonight. My friend and I are almost certain that our 2 main dishes came from a jar or one of those boil-in-a-bag things. Not to mention that our $17 chicken plate was way more sauce than chicken and our $14 vegetable, cheese and potato dish had no vegetables, no cheese and no potatoes. Instead, we got 3 small, doughy balls in a pile of the same jarred sauce from our chicken. It was bad. Really, really bad.

We had a great lunch here on Aug 14,2015. It was buffet style and the selections included both vegetarian and carnivorous dishes. The food was delicately but perfectly spiced and the wait staff were exceptional.

I’ve walked by Saaz on several occasions and have been meaning to try it. Finally I got the motivation to upon purchasing a Groupon. We walked in on a Sunday night and there were 3 tables of people already there. We were acknowledged by the host standing at the front and he told us to wait. He seemed to be having some issues with the ordering system. So we waited… and waited… and waited. When a female server came up to the front, instead of seating us to a table, he walked away and then she starts fumbling with the ordering system. That was my first bad impression. At this rate we could’ve just seated ourselves as there were plenty of tables a few metres away. Finally I caught the her eye and she finally seated us.20 minutes later: we wanted to put in our order and we still didn’t have glasses or water. We watched as the host brought food to other tables and the girl walking around with a pitcher of water and only asking one table how their food was and whether they wanted water. Um, hello? Turn around, there’s a table without glasses nor water. I don’t understand why you would only offer water to one table when there were several other tables around too. Finally my dinner date walked up to the host who was standing in front of the ordering system again and asked if we could have some water and put in our order. Double thumbs down! No dining guest should have to do that. So finally he came with water and took our order. He tried making some chit chat but by that point I was peeved and didn’t feel like playing nice. He had the nerve to ask whether this was our first visit. Yes it was and it was going terrible. The food came soon after. We got garlic naan, butter chicken, and lamb biryani. I found the portions a bit less than what I’ve had in other Indian restaurants. If it wasn’t for the Groupon I would’ve walked out ages ago. All in all the food was good – not bad but not overly spectacular either. During the time we were eating, no one came to check on us or ask if we wanted our glasses filled or if we wanted dessert. Nada. Nil service, nil tip.
