Over priced, poor quality, and the absolutely the worst coffee I have ever paid for. The Burger King across the street would be a step up.
UP – Fresh and flavourful with friendly staff.DOWN – Prices were alright, but I felt the sandwich was a little light.OUT – I was playing pinball next door at the hotdog place when I got hungry. Gourmet or not, my street-meat days are over so I went next door to Sam’s. Beef dip was on special along with soup. Both the soup and sandwich were great but very light. It went down quick and I was still hungry when I left.
Sandwich on a croissant was delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. Regarding the comments that their sandwiches are ‘overpriced’, may I ask where you can get a FRESH sandwich for less…heck, McD’s is priced about the same for the same size of sandwich, especially in the heart of Victoria. I enjoyed it, if back in town would definitely go back.
Tourist Trap complete with BAD food!. This place caters specifically to tourists, that is clear. Terrible food is okay when you have a turn-over cliental. However, tourists, please come try some of the great cuisine our city has to offer! Don’t get caught in the trap! The food here is lousy, but there is always a long line-up in the summer. However, this is not the case during the off season, as many locals like myself only go here as a last resort. After today’s lousy sandwich experience, I will stop going here, the food has gotten so bad, that I can’t stomache it. The salads sit for days, looking limp and wilted, the last two times my croissant has been old and dry. There is nothing especially interesting about their menu, just the standard sandwiches and soup. While the staff is friendly, for some reason this place attracts a rude and pushy cliental. Maybe it’s the cheap, generic food? It is a step up from Subway though!
Still Good but, Remember when…. Is it a famous sandwich if the recipe has changed? Remember when the shrimp sandwiches actually used to be the best in town? This is going back 15 years ago, but they used a heap of sprouts not cheap iceberg lettuce like they do now, two ice cream scoops of shrimp, and a half of a large avocado scooped out onto the sandwich with whatever else you wanted on it. Those were the days! Stick with the soup.
So overpriced. First of all, I’m not saying the food was bad. It was fine. Mediocre. But definitely not worth $10 for a regular bread-sized sandwich. It’s a sandwich! I thought this type of food was supposed to be affordable. I get that the location makes it a tourist-trap but it should still be done reasonably. If they’re going to charge that much they should at least include a side of something and a drink to make it a meal. I’ve been wanting to go try this place out for the longest time and I was very disappointed. Definitely won’t be coming back to eat there… unless it’s for the ice cream at the Soda Shoppe next door!
Didn’t know where to go for a relaxing lunch so stopped in several delis and sandwich shops to check menus and prices. All were pricey. This one looked nice so we thought, why not. So glad we did. The chili was fantastic and the tuxedo cake was even better. Stopped by there twice more in the next few days fora lunch. Pricey but good. Relaxing atmosphere and quiet.(late October).
