Surprised! Great food. We decided to try the restaurant for lunch. The owner was there and he took our order. Service was ultra-fast and he is very friendly. The food was just… great! I have tried middle-eastern food in a couple of other places in Victoria, but this is hands down the best. Well cooked, well presented, perfectly balanced. The cost of the dishes is within the expected range. I was positively surprised and we will be back for sure! Try the Kofta and, as appetizer, the Baba Ghanouj is a killer!
Really fantastic food and super friendly service. Totally worth a try!
Mixed Feelings – Sadly Totally Empty. Their falafel was amazing and the baklava is really good. The pita wasn’t that great (not heated, store-bought tasting). Also, the place was totally empty, which isn’t that great for a restaurant vibe. The decor is really unpleasant, with weirdly green walls and grey-purple chairs. Not sure if I would go again.
Good food!. Went in with Groupon voucher. Their food is good! I feel bad for them that the location is not so great. They don’t get a lot of walk-bys. Would definitely go again 🙂
Food was cold and lacked taste.
Incredible. I am an Arab myself, and the food here is exactly what meets my cravings, and I know what’s real and what’s not when it comes to M-Eastern food. The food is fresh, authentic, and true to its origins. It’s just as good if not better than what you get in Arabia itself! The meats & chickens have just the right flavors, so I STRONGLY recommend their kofta/kebabs/chicken&lamb dishes. They also have such a delicious vegetarian menu. They customize meals so perfectly too!Bottom line: Since its opening last month, it’s the only place I dine in Victoria
Authentic!. Having spent 13 years enjoying my Mother in laws authentic Lebanese cooking and then moving here- I have to say I miss it!We stopped by the Shahrazad Restaurant for a quick lunch and hoped for the best. Service was friendly and it is family owned- sometimes the best places to eat!We ordered coffee and ice water- simple I know- but the water was so nice and super cold and the coffee was fresh and in a good sized cup- great start. We asked for the appy platter as it contained all of our favourites- reasonable price too.The dish came in good time and was plenty for two and could easily have three share. The dish was simply presented – and we dug in….and YUM! Fresh! And you could tell made from scratch! No store bought slapped together dishes here! The falafel was done right! And the hummus was perfectly balanced and wasn’t runny or too thick- a hand of experience had made this- I know I make my own! And my very favourite- stuffed grape leaves- excellent! Rolled with precision and such a nice blend of ingredients. Some places serve them warm- some cold. Ours was nice and cool- nothing worse then a tepid temperature dish where you worry about food safety. Having worked in the food service industry for over 25 years and counting it crosses my mind! No worries here- the place is clean and comfortable with a simple decor. It didn’t matter what else was on there to me- my quest was fulfilled! There was more- all equally good- and a generous amount of pita bread to accompany the rest. Next we ordered 2 lunch wraps from the fair selection available – one chicken, one beef. The price was inexpensive for restaurant fare. Again simply presented- just the wrap. Perhaps a optional side might be offered in the future for a small additional charge?- or maybe we missed that part. We were glad anyways because we had just gobbled up the appy platter and it would have been too much food anyways. Yum! Again! So fresh and done right! We even had to try each others! The chicken looked hand picked off the bone and was seasoned just right. The beef was cooked and seasoned in balance and I enjoyed every bite except the last- which I passed to my husband as I was just too full to eat it!Or so I thought- till the server brought us a complimentary date desert to try- warm- seasoned with sesame and coconut- it was new to us- and soo good! Apparently Mom in the kitchen likes to try new things- and it was an idea of hers…I say they offer it on the menu!Overall, a very pleasant lunch date we had- Yeah! Sometimes it’s a real crap shoot trying somewhere new when you have such high hopes for authentic food. If you wish for fresh authentic fare try here. We are looking forward to trying dinner next. Thank you to the Shahrazad restaurant for bringing me back down memory lane- we will be back!
