This is one of those hidden gems in Victoria – easy to drive by and not notice, or think about checking out. However, stopping in is always a great idea. The main draw would be the combos – a mixture of borscht, cabbage rolls, perogies and sausage. The food is fresh, home made and very, very flavorful. Prices are reasonable – as a big eater, I can be satisfied spending $12.
Polish Ukrainian food with handmade pierogi as good as my polish aunt made in her kitchen. Good portions and very reasonable prices. Very nice owner.
Love this place!. My mother and I just moved to Victoria in the fall and we missed having perogies and cabbage rolls this year for Christmas. My grandmother is from the Ukraine and she always makes them for us. We spoofed this place on our way home on the bus one Sunday and ran down the street to check it out. The food was top notch and the owner is the real deal, so kind and an excellent host. I eat here anytime I need a taste of home
No competition these are the best Pedaheh (Perogy) in British Columbia. I found this place a couple months ago I am Russian, I find myself here two or three times a week buying Perogy to give to people and the sausage is amazing I have to say they produce probably some of the best I’ve had in my life the old codger there, typical old European rougher on the edges great character wonderful manThe kind of guy that you remember he makes it what it is and what it is is amazing whether you eat there or take the perogy homeTry it and tell your friends I want to make sure this guy never goes out of business and he won’t if you try his food and don’t forget to buy the sausage he gets out of Vancouver it tends to be better than mundane sausage house which is the best and I would have it flowing in weekly from Edmonton but now I no longer need toCheers Keep up the good work
Giant delicious homemade pierogies and cabbage rolls!. There is a man who runs a little deli with plastic chairs and a sandwich board sign on the sidewalk. He is a pierogie genius! I eat there every time I’m in Victoria now. Last time I was there, I ran into another man who makes a beeline for this place whenever he’s in town. We had along conversation about perogies. I’m Asian (not your usual perogy eater) and he was Ukrainian (more typical perogy eater) and we both raved to the owner about his perogies. I had a giant cabbage roll as well. Bought some homemade sausage to take home and then regretted I didn’t buy more after eating it. You can buy frozen stuff too here. This place is plain, no dining atmosphere and kind of hard to find but you won’t regret it. I’ve been eating homemade perogies (used to buy them from a church) for decades but nothing is as good as these! I’m going there this weekend to stock up.
