Today two friends and I stopped in for ice cream. We’ve been plenty of times before because they give awesome scoops!!! Today was totally different and I think I accidentally made an employee self conscious. When you pay $4.19 for an ice cream cone I was surprised by what I got. I watched him scoop a few cones before me and I was shocked to see one scoop dropped into a waffle cone. Shocked only because the other dozen times I’d been there I’d got twice as much. I asked the employee if he was new, he said yes. I guess I wasn’t surprised. I almost didn’t take the cone he handed me because I really didn’t want to pay over $4 for that ice cream cone. I realize it’s odd to complain about ice cream…I mean, it’s ice cream! But I think I’ll go to Mr. Tubbs from now on, on Burnside Rd. They’re open much later and it’s better value for the money 🙂 One of my friends commented that she feels bad when employees aren’t trained well. And the other commented that her float which he made her was less than pleasant and she threw it away. I felt bad for her. Who has to throw away ice cream! Haha
Soda shoppe stop. We were being tourists in our home town today and decided it would be a good time to take a break and have a soda. The Soda Shoppe seemed to be an appropriate place. Their menu system, four very complex and crowded coloured chalk boards, was a bit hard to read but rather confusing. We finally got it figured out and settle for a simple float. I had an orange float and Marla had a chocolate. Pretty easy. However, it took forever to get made. There appeared to be four staff members but none of them were working in the front area. They did appear to be busy cleaning, which i guess is good, but it takes a place that might have a really nice atmosphere to a rather dull and routine storefront.We would go back because the floats were good and watching the tourists at this prime location is fun.

Meh. We order a float called the Pink lady- Looked appetizing, but really just too sweet and not enough flavour of anything specific. Tourist trap priced in a high tourist concentration area- so not a surprise. The decor is interesting although since it was busy- difficult to find a place to sit. Not worthwhile in my opinion. Dairy Queen / McDonald ice cream would’ve been good alternatives if you account for price & quality.
Can’t say if was good or bad, because we didn’t get served. Two attendants behind the counter and both looked at us but never asked us if we wanted to be served. We waited longer and still nothing so we went next door
My wallet hurts. I can’t belive what they are asking for a sandwich. this is the biggest ripp off in town.
I like it a lot. I wouldn’t get regular ice cream because its island farms and can be bought at any grocer, but the specialty treats are yummy and fun! Great decor and good service.
