Piles of people standing outside smoking, but no line at the door. Oddly lit inside, too bright like a cafeteria. Smells like a busy bar that isn’t thoroughly cleaned nightly.

Really unique rooftop patio. Worth the visit alone! Happy hour meant good burger (no sides) and beer too. Service friendly and unobtrusive. Would go again when it was busier.

17 Minutes waiting to be noticed, and an entire period of playoff hockey without being able to order food. I came to watch the Montreal-Tampa Bay hockey game on May 12th and was surprised to find so few people in the back of the pub. Given this, I thought the wait staff would be itching to serve me and others. I sat down and waited… and waited, a full 17 minutes before a waitress approached me and asked if I wanted a drink; and that was after I made myself obvious by moving my arms. I said I would like to sample one of the beers before ordering one, and about five minutes later my sample appeared. I ordered that beer and was served in another 4 minutes, then nothing. I waited long enough to watch the entire first period of hockey (was in the pub for a full 40 minutes) before I got up, paid for my one beer and walked out. I don’t know if I’ll go back. Too bad. The place has a nice vibe to it, but the staff obviously don’t care.

So tasty we went twice!. We were in Victoria for Gottacon 2014 and needed lunch on Friday before pre-reg opened, so when we went walking up Douglas the guys decided they wanted to go to a pub. I’d never been in but we went over to look at the menu and everyone agreed to give it a try. So glad we did, it was delicious and the servers were great both times!First impressions of the place are that it’s very ornate and clean but not gaudy, just detailed enough to be interesting. The staff are all very friendly, we were seated and served promptly and with enthusiasm. For Friday’s lunch i tried their venison burger with fries and housemade gravy. The burger was absolutely delicious, i loved the way they did the apples and tomatoes on it. The gravy was interesting, very thick and at first i could have sworn it had a mushroom base to it though it turns out in my favour it did not have anything to do with mushrooms. The fries, however, I’d be shocked if they are anything other than Cavendish because I’ve been deep frying those at home for the last two years after I found i loved the taste of them when I was cooking them working for Costco. That light breaded coating is hard to mistake. I honestly love those fries, so if they’re going to use pre-cut ones good choice guys! I also tried a drop shot called a Super Cap which tasted rather sweet and fruity but was a little high on the pop level for me to down all at once. Nice flavour blend though. On Saturday we went back, because we didn’t have much time, and I tried their special pancakes with sauteed spiced apples/raisins and bananas with creamcheese and maple syrop…with a side of their chocolate cheesecake. Crazy idea normally but I was planning on surviving through a 12am game of Werewolf so… both were tasty, I thought the creamcheese was whipped cream at first, but that’s because they managed to have it look exactly like the whipped cream on the plate. The cheesecake was super rich but tasty. All in all great food, great atmosphere, and great service.

Just couldn’t get it right! My steak was over cooked, came out well done when I roared medium rare. Ordered a coffee for dessert and it came out cold. I didn’t feel like complaining more than once.
