Grinds In my cap!. I have been drinking coffee for 40 years, espresso exclusively for 15 years, and have never had coffee grinds in the bottom of my cup. Not at Habit, not at Discovery, not at Fernwood, not at Shatterbox, I can go on and on. The fact that they don’t use a naked portafilter to monitor their shot extraction process baffles me, but that is another issue. Fortunately for me Discovery is close by. Pity. Grinds…. Not cool
Dirty mug. Been going here for a while never has any issues , great food and atmosphere until last week…sat down to drink my tea and the mug was still dirty around the inside with coffee marks. There was also something crusty stuck to the handle
Coffee origin should be disclosed. Nice place to sit for an afternoon coffee. however, the staff who attended to us doesn’t know where the coffee was from. i think great coffee places should at least have an idea of the origin/s of their coffee. he also said the coffee they use was a ‘blend,’ and when i asked about the ratio of arabica-robusta/ or whatever beans they used, he proceeded to say ‘it is a trade secret’ — which i found a little amusing. still we gave it a try. coffee was ok, nothing really spectacular as the tourism guide noted. he also seemed like he was having a bad day – no smiles, no enthusiasm. probably was a long day in victoria for him.
Best Breakfast Sandwich!. Tre makes the best breakfast sandwich in town. It’s HUGE. The only thing is you have to make sure you ask for a cheesy bun because they either use plain or cheesy. Oh and get hot sauce (they use Cholula – which is the best)
Good and simple. This is one of my favourite spots for a light dinner. They have a small menu with daily specials. There is a nice list of wines by the glass. Their chef creates interesting and unusual dishes that are always very tasty. The decor and tables are pretty basic. The art on the walls changes from time to time. The service is pretty quick and the staff have always been very pleasant.
Omg I think I’ve had to much coffee, I can’t stop shaking, I think the barista behind the bar has a thing for me. She won’t stop staring. It’s ok though, she’s pretty cute.
If you have literally all day to wait to get your ok food from someone smarmy, after being made to wait for the coffee you have to guess is yours, then this is the place for you. Nice place to sit though, but not for an hour without food.
