I heard this place was good so I thought I would try it. The service is friendly, however I found the dishes overpriced and the portions very small and I am a light eater. I ordered the BBQ pork without rice or noodles expecting to receive a fairly generous amount for around 10$. It was a very small portion served on a little dessert plate which 2 people had to share. I ordered a medium rice separately. That portion was ok. I ordered the chow mein with shredded duck which was written on the black board and they said would be $13 for 2 people. Again, the portion of chow mien was not very large and there was virtually no duck in it. I think I counted 3 or 4 dime size pieces of skin or fat total. It was ridiculous for them to call it a duck dish at all! It was just a lot of cheap noodles and not much else. I could make that at home for a buck. I can get a generous bbq duck leg-thigh portion with rice and baby bok-choy at another Chinese restaurant in Victoria for 10.95, so I have no idea how they are determining their prices. I won’t be back.
Best honey buns, pork buns, egg custard etc. I love the soup – soy chicken or some combination that might have the crispy pork and wontons or dumplings with noodles. Friendly too!
Good stuff. Always come here for the great beef brisket noodle soup, and I also buy some pork buns and whole roast duck from time to time. Reasonable prices and fast polite service. Picked this place at random as the first restaurant to try when I first moved here a year ago, and keep going back.
Hong Kong style restaurant. This place is one of the only hong kong style restaurants left in Victoria. They have bakery to BBQ items to noodles and rice. Perfect for casual dining.
Authentic Canto Food!. This is the only place that has authentic canto food (baked pork chop on rice). I love it! Makes me not miss Vancouver that much 😉
The roasted duck and bbq pork is something i go for quite often. Had a duck chow mein order that was dry. The wontons were good and the seafood hot pot.
Authentic Hong Kong cuisine. I came here looking for a authentic hong kong style restaurant, and this place delivers in spades. I’ve eaten here multiple times now, and in general, this hits the spot when you want some hong kong style chow mein, beef brisket noodle soup or chinese barbeque munchies. The food, thus far, has been consistently fresh and tasty. Sometimes a little too salty, and a little too greasy but I can deal with that. The service and the decor is nothing special, but that’s hardly the point of eating at a place like this. It’s unassuming and authentic, and so delicious.
