The staff is quite nice, the service is decent, but at times, the fish isn’t as good as it once was. However THIS IS A PROBLEM EVERYWHERE THESE DAYS. The cod available today doesn’t come from local waters, these waters are pretty much fished out. The halibut is from the west coast, but more expensive than steak. It’s a sign of the times.19 Oct, 2012The staff is quite no e, the service is decent, but at times, the fish isn’t as good as it once was. However THIS IS A PROBKEM EVERYWHERE THESE DAYS. I like it. Just read two negative reviews and was surprised — I think it’s the best fish and chips *anywhere* in the cowichan valley.

To Duncanite: yes, yes it is Captain Highliner. The cod anyway. No idea where they get the halibut from. Good choice for not going back! I’m surprised it’s not shut down yet from the health inspector. Being a past employee, I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone.

What are they serving Captain Highliner? I ordered 2 orders of 2 piece fish and chips and received fish that had to have been store bought considering every piece was the exact same size and shape. Never mind that the price was higher than what you pay across the highway at the Doghouse (for real fish). I would avoid this place like the plague, if you want processed fish save yourself some $ and go to the grocery store and buy some Highliners, it’ll be the exact same thing you will receive from this hole.
